It was, if nothing else, a site to behold for those on the Sub. Shade had called off missions for several days in preperation for the party itself; and now, the evening had finally arrived.
The entire floor had near almost been transformed; the training areas were nearly unrecognizable. One wall was lined with table upon table piled high with food, though those mostly seemed to be hot dogs; some fairy lights that had been brought back several years ago where finally put into use instead of rotting in one of the education rooms; and even one or two multicoloured discolights had been foraged from somewhere, one in each corner across from the tables.
The centre of the room was the dance floor, and there was even a holographic DJ, with typical DJ equipment, for people to request the songs that Shade had in his memory banks, which had been originally stored away until the world returned to normal.
The biggest surprise was probably Shade himself. He'd taken the liberty to chose a different outfit for his avatar this evening, standing at the centre to the room, having planned to address his children directly (well, as directly as really possible - but at least it was more courteous than his standard bodyless voice announcements). He spoke one last time. "Any trouble, and you will find that I will immediately know. All my eyes are on you tonight, as well as outside, watching for any beast that may traverse here. I don't expect my trust to be broken," he reiterated, casting the floor with one last sweeping view. Seconds later, there was a blinding flash of light: and he was gone, where only the DJ remained, plugging in the first song.
