I immediately thought of you when they won! And Jon Steward bringing her back on stage was just the sweetest thing ever. And her speech was lovely. What an adorable couple. I can't believe she's just... what, 20?

I know. They both gave awesome speeches! And I'm really glad Jon Stewart brought her back out. She's ridiculously young to be that talented and mature.

I confess, I cheered and danced around the living room and screamed. And then I may have, uh, rewound the DVR and watched it a couple more times. I'm so pathetic! But they are SO ADORABLE.

(And now I can use my Glen Hansard icon!!)

Would you believe I haven't seen Once yet? But I have my Netflix copy of the movie at home, just waiting to be watched! Really soon!

I also wanna watch Michael Clayton mostly because of Tilda Swinton and her awesome speech (in which she used most of her alotted time making fun of George Clooney.)

It's an excellent movie - not really "blow you away" material, but unbelievably effective for the constraints they were working with (schedule, budget, two leads who were musicians rather than actors...)

I think Tilda Swinton was honestly shocked - kinda seemed like she hadn't even prepared a speech? So why not make fun of George Clooney and his rubber suit days? *g*

It was so terribly awesome that they won! Lovely all over. There's always one speech (or group of speeches) that makes the whole night worth it.

Sigh. (of happiness). And nice icon, above!

When Stephen Soderbergh won for Traffic, he actually gave a speech that was kind of similar - enough that I remember it, at least. *g*

It's good to have a short memory--everything old is new again! I don't remember that speech at all, and I'm fond of Stephen Soderbergh.

I was all "I can feel fourteenlines's happiness floating southwards!"

I also loved how they decorated the set like the music-shop scene. Even with his same beat-up guitar!

Hee!

I don't think he makes plays any other (acoustic) guitar. I mean, he had an electric guitar and he has a Gibson, but when he plays acoustic, it's always that guitar, forever and ever. Supposedly when he was playing in Japan, the head of Takamine guitars gave him a brand new one, because they felt that Glen playing his old beat-up Takamine was giving them a bad reputation. *g*

I kinda suspected as much. Even more charming!

So, much as I love the Oscars, even when they're boring, I mostly watched this year for Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and got teary when they won, and even tearier when Jon Steward let her come say thank you! I'm so giddy at the thought of them all wide-eyed and giggly backstage at having made it to the frigging Oscars, with a hugely deserved win!!

I didn't even watch the Oscars and then I saw Shaye's post and had to run to YouTube to watch the performance and their speeches. Yay!

And all I kept thinking was "Shaye's seen The Frames live" and being ferociously jealous. :D

Hi,

I found a rec for a fic you wrote entitled "Miss Anthropic", but the entry appears to be f-locked. Do you by any chance have it archived somewhere else? I'd love to read it :)

Thanks.

Lanta.
