Re: I love this post. Official. But the show? See iconfourteenlinesJuly 6 2008, 08:55:43 UTC
Awesome - can't wait to read it!
And the thing with the Doctor and Donna and River sort of occurred to me halfway through writing my review, and I had to go back and rearrange a whole bunch of stuff. It's possible I may be a little bit preoccupied with the possibility of River Song. :)
Oh, thank you. I love, love, love your Donna theory. The episode was brilliant, but Donna's way too cool, and that ending frelling HURT!
Rachael and I had a bit of a debate over whether just realizing she's more than superficial would set off the memories, or whether she just couldn't think about the Doctor, TARDIS, and her adventures.
I figured it was the latter, and the idea for Donna now is that she needs to recognize she's brilliant for herself, rather than because the Doctor is telling her so, or because she goes on crazy adventures in time and space. I want to see Donna's fate as a thematic choice on RTD's part about self-growth, rather than just a tragedy.
I am taking your proposed Donna spec as my personal canon. Seriously, that would make me all kinds of happy and will mitigate my bitterness with what happened to her a great deal.
Oh, I want Donna's future to happen. I couldn't believe the Doctor didn't at least say: Make sure she knows she's brilliant, even if she can't remember me.
I'm more than a bit pissed off about Donna. And about the utter fanservice of the Rose/Doctor business. That was just... too much. Ew.

As for your speculation for Donna. YES. I thought so too. In fact I spent most of last night writing it. Madness.

But your version of her future is just perfect.
