insta-rec: yuletide edition
Anyone who has read and loved Dodie Smith's I Capture the Castle needs to read The Account Book immediately. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Just read at your first opportunity. It's the most perfect story for this fandom that I could possibly imagine - nice and long and meaty, too, and written like it could be another section of the novel

I'm pretty sure it was you who introduced me to I Capture the Castle, waaaay back on the FS-Shippers list, so I should thank you for that as well, since it became on of my favorite books. Now that I've declared myself a not-so-secret devotee of Modernism, I should go back and re-read it. I have a feeling Cassandra's father's book will have much more resonance for me now that A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses are under my belt. :)
