Ugh. I get the Facebook sharing - it's almost too painful to acknowledge in any other way but by laughing at it. At the same time, I'm sick of hearing about things like this. I understand your thoughts completely.

The hashtag #WhiteManMarchProtestSigns on twitter made me smile a little, but it's all with the head shaking and the deep sad knowledge that there are people out there really feeling that they need "a movement" to secure their white identity.

The only small bit of good news is that this seems like the throes and gasps of a flopping, flailing cultural fish. It's out of water.

Jon Stewart interviewed Anita Hill this week, and one of the things he pointed out, from the hearing, was this panel of old white men on one side all facing her, and how graphically it demonstrated the concentration of power. Twenty-odd years ago, and there have been some changes (not enough) but maybe it's a sign of progress that these men feel the need to make themselves into a cause.

Volumes can be written. And tumblr is proof of that! But, yes. The only thing that doesn't allow the laughter to come is that they might be packing heat.
