Some hours after falling into recharge with Red Alert on his berth, Finch started to come around a little. She had been tired, but more than likely, not nearly as exhausted as the poor mech at her side... Or, as she noticed when she opened her optics, vision clearing, more like the mech -curled up- with her. Somehow, while the two had been out, Red had managed to regain his full size, shifting back into robot mode and wrapping his tail around the femme. Finch, on the other hand, had one wing partially over him.... She blushed, but didn't move for several 'klicks, half debating just trying to fall back into recharge and enjoy the time and company.
Systems slowly started to kick into gear... bringing Red Alert out of the *most peaceful* recharge he's had since he could remember. In his groggy, pre-online state, his sensors couldn't _quite_ make heads or tails out of the information flowing to his sensor outputs. Only a sensation of warmth, and comfort registered, and it was making him *quite* reluctant to wake up completely. 'Common sense' and "duty" warred with satiated lethargy, systems powering up and optics opening partly, a small groan eeking its way out of his vocalizer. He then grew silent, optics opening completely, and widening, as three things registered at once. 1) He had somehow transformed durning the night. 2) He was now back to his normal size. And 3)...he was curled up with Finch on his berth, his arms and tail around her waist, her wing slightly over him. .o(.....oh Primus.... I'm sleeping with Finch. Err.... I SLEPT with Finch. It... it was just *recharge* but.... ohPrimus.... I'm cuddling her! I... I know what she said... I know what *I* said... how I feel about her, and all.... But still.... during the night... when I... I must have pulled her into my arms.... oh_Primus_..... *O___O*;))
Feeling Red stiffen a little, Finch turns her head to meet his gaze, still blushing. "Heh... Hiya? Guess we really got comfortable, didn't we?" Half worried he might bolt or even fall OUT of the berth, if just out of surprise or pure nerves, Finch pulls up even closer to him, fully intending to try and keep him where he is for at least a couple more minutes.
Tensing even more out of sheer nerves (starting to negate all the 'good' the recharge did him), Red's faceplates coloured the shade of his name, and he cleared his vocalizer, then chuckled, awkwardly. "Um.... hi. Good morning. Or... good afternoon, I guess. Ahhh.... umm... yeah. I... guess we *did* get pretty... comfortable..." .o(Okay, okay... just... She's cute, and kind... concerned for me... She just kept me company. She doesn't seem to be -complaining-, but... ...I should be proper. Should move my arms away. ..... *Why aren't my arms moving yet?!* ... Ahh... that's goo- NO!! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO *TIGHTEN* YOUR GRIP!! [Primus, do I have a glitch in my motor functions? @_x;])
"Whoa, hey..." Finch reached up to place one hand on the side of his helm, hoping to calm him down a little. She could feel the sudden rush of anxiety running through him and knew it wouldn't do him a single bit of good to be so on edge. "Calm down, Red. You're going to do away with all the good recharge just did you. And you're back to normal in terms of size and height. One less thing to worry about, right? ...and...I don't mind that this happened." Her blush deepened as she smiled a bit. "Not at all."
Red Alert stilled as her hand met the side of his helm, a little shivver running through his systems. "Ahh.... right, right. And... I *am* thankful to be back to normal. ... Well, normal -height- at least," he said with a little frown, flicking his tail once. He then paused, ducking his head a little, his embarassed blush growing a little darker. "You... Truly?"
Finch nodded...then leaned in to kiss his cheek, gently. "...can't remember the last time I had such a good recharge, really. I feel safe with you, here." Letting her hand slip back under his arm, she hugged him, optics shuttering for a moment.
For a split-second, his spark seemed to skip a pulse, and a shy, nervous giggle escaped his control as he curled up a little closer to her. "I... I had the best sleep I think I've -ever- had. I'm... glad you can feel safe with me," he said softly. "I... -want- you to feel safe with me. I mean... I know it's -crazy-... the pranks you used to pull, and all, but... *knowing* that... I... I still ... I don't _feel_ nervous around you. Well... not nervous in THAT way, at least. I mean..."
Listening to him stutter on, Finch giggled quietly...almost nervously, herself. "There won't be anymore pranks, Red. ...don't really see a need for them, especially since I've about got you where I want you, anyway. Have your attention and all that..." .oO (He is just so -cute- when he's shy and not quite sure what to do. Hopefully I can keep him here a bit longer. I know he's got work to go back to, but still....)
Red Alert glanced about, noting how -close- they were... their arms around each other, Finch's wing over him... his back to the wall. "Ahh.... we-well... You certainly *do* have me at.... well... you've got me... at the moment..." True, he _could_ pull away easily, but he had no desire to overpower her in any way. He knew that she'd let him go, if he asked... and he KNEW he was needed, back at his post. Thoughts on everything that *had* happened, his mind raced ahead on what COULD have happened, since he was 'out'... and he groaned, feeling a headache coming on.
"Relax just a -little- longer, huh? I'm sure if anything bad had happened while we were asleep, someone would have come down here to get you, or sent an urgent comm message. You can't be everywhere at once and I think the rest know that." Finch simply watched him a moment, frowning a little before speaking again, tone hinting at worry over the groan out of him. "You hurting somewhere?"
Peering up at her, he offered her a sheepish grin. "Ahh... just... my mind running off with ideas on what sort of chaos might have happened, since I was asleep. It's... been a while. I... *know* they would alert me if anything _serious_ happened, but... ...a lot HAVE been telling me to... 'take a break' as well, so... I don't know if they WOULD tell me or not, even *if* something happened... just to _ensure_ I... ...'take the time off'..." He paused, frowning a little and shifting faintly on the recharge berth. "I'm... Primus, I'm -torn-. I KNOW I should get up, check my messages -- I KNOW I have -some- in there... and get back to my post, do my job and all, but..." He paused again, faceplates colouring once more as he looked at Finch. "A part of me... ...part of me wants to stay right -here-... and not move."
She shrugged just a bit. "If you really want to get up and get back to business, I won't stop you. But...don't really see any harm in taking a few extra minutes, either." Faceplate tinted pink again, she glanced up at him, smiling almost shyly. "...one more thing I kind of did want to do before we got up, anyway..."
"I... realize you wouldn't stop me, and I... thank you for that. It's hard to just... -relax- like this, for me," he said with a little frown. "Even if I *want* to relax, my mind won't let me, a lot of the time. I'm always thinking of the next danger, the next step in defense... what sort of things could happen, what the Decepticons could be planning..." He frowned more, bowing his head. "I... know it's no way to live. But... that's the price I pay to make sure the -others- can relax, and... ...I made that choice, willingly, vorns ago. I'm... sorry it doesn't make me a very 'fun' person," he mumbled, glancing up at her again. He then blushed, his mind making connections as to what this 'one more thing' could be. "Ah.... what... -thing- _did_ you have in mind...?"
"'Fun' is relative. Everyone has a different idea of what's entertaining and what's not... Besides, I think we may be a little more alike than you think. I know some around here think you paranoid, but...I might be just as bad in some ways. And I can't blame you for that choice you made so long ago." Taking her arms from around his waist, she put her hands up on his shoulders, instead and moved up closer, her nose less than a foot from his own. "As for what I have in mind?" Optics shuttering, Finch leaned in and kissed him, pressing her lips up against his, gently.
Red Alert nodded faintly. "True enough... I guess I just... don't follow the 'norm' for fun that so many of the other Autobots share." He tilted his head, curiously, at Finch's words... but smiled shyly. "You don't seem paranoid to -me-, Finch... I don't know why you would think you are." As she put her hands on his shoulders he grew silent, relays trembling in anticipation and nerves. When their lips met, his optics powered down, a jolt running throught his systems. His arms tightened their hold around her waist as he shyly returned the kiss. For the moment, -nothing- was worrying Red Alert; his world had abruptly been narrowed to just the femme in his arms.
Finch lets the kiss linger a moment before breaking it, drawing back to open her shutters half-way, a small smile crossing her faceplate. "...I'm not sure if that helped your nerves or not, but..." Trailing off, she giggles softly. Primus, she felt like a sparkling all over again!
Pulling back slowly, Red Alert chuckled, shyly, softly. "I.... ahhh... think it -did-, actually. Primus... that was... ... -wonderful-. I mean. It's my first kiss, really, and all, but... my systems seemed to jump up, and I feel all energized and all, and..." He broke off, giggling nervously. "Well, um... yes. That... that helped a *lot*, Finch." He paused, his expression and tone softening. "_You_ helped a lot... thank you..."
"Anytime...love. Honored to have been your first, really," she replied, giggling again at her own "daring" with the use of the petname. "And I'll definitely be more of a help than a...ah...'hindrence' to you in the future. Maybe an extra set of audios...and extra set of optics?" Taking one of his hands in her own, she intertwined her fingers with his.
If Red Alert's faceplate had been pink before, it was most definately red _now_, at that little pet name. He stumbled over his own speech for a few moments, before finally able to find his voice. "Aaaaahh.... an... extra set of audios and optics... would be helpful, really... You... already helped me out before... finding some cracks, and all..." Glancing down at thei hands, he shifted nervously, smiling sheepishly, giving her hand a little squeeze. "I'm so... so -stunned- that you... *feel* this way... to me. I feel so... _lucky_. I can... can't even -word- it right."
Returing the gentle squeeze, Finch smiled at him. "You're a good looking mech, Red. A femme'd have to be blind not to notice... Besides, you...kinda remind me of someone I used to know back on Cybertron in the 'good old days' before the war. And you're a responsible, smart mech on top of it all. ....I think a lot of you. I really do."
Red Alert ducked his head, shyly. "You'll turn my faceplates the same colour as my helm, permanently... if you keep up with the compliments like that. I'm the one who's honored... so much... I... still don't understand HOW it happened, but..." He ducked his head again, smiling up at her. "You've... just become so -important- to me... You're in my thoughts... ....in my spark," he added in a soft voice, blushing with embarassment over how sappy he knew he sounded.
"Sometimes...things just happen, I think, and it's not really important just -how- or why. You've been on my mind so much recently, too. I've been worried about how you've been handling all of these problems here at the Ark. And...well..." She glances away a moment before looking back at him, voice lowering further. "I...can feel...what you feel. In a way...I understand what you've been through, that way."
"You can... -feel- what I feel..?" Frowning now, in worry... Red Alert reached up with one hand to rest it against the side of her helm, gently... "I'm sorry," he murmured. "I... don't want anyone else to have to go through what I go through..."
Resting her other hand over his, she shook her head a little. "Don't apologize. It's...something I'm still working with. I've never really told anyone about it, either, and it wasn't a part of me until after I was taken out of Dirge. It's like...like a sixth sense. ...empathy, really... Just makes me aware of what others are feeling. And maybe I don't mind being with you sometimes on how you feel." She managed a small smile. "A lot's happened to my spark...it's gotten pretty strong. It can take a lot."
Slowly, carefully... and a little reluctantly, Red Alert sat up, then shyly, gently, drew Finch into a hug. "Still... I'll try to be a ... bit more careful... as... um... we'll be together a lot more often, from now on, right?" he asked, a sheepish little smile curling up one corner of his lip. Not realizing he was doing it, one hand drifted down to Finch's back, to rub it soothingly. "I'd say... you're a very strong femme, all around, Finch."
Finch leaned against him, shuttering her optics as he rubbed her lower back, bringing one hand against his chest. "I should hope we'd be together more often... In fact, I'm not even sure you'll ever be able to be rid of me, now. This bird is always looking for a good shoulder to perch on, I think you should know." She chuckled, then blushed at the compliment. "Strong in my own way, I think. Weak in others... But that's okay. I feel stronger on the whole around you, anyway."
He could feel his engine revving at that little touch, and forced himself to cycle down a little. He chuckled, roughly, peering at the smaller femme. "I... don't think I have any objections, any more... to my being your 'perch', Finch..." He was silent a moment, then hugged her a little tighter. "I feel... calmer... more at ease... when I'm with you, now," he whispered. Then chuckled. "Ironic, for how we started out, but... ...it's true."
"I'll just try not to startle you when I do land on your shoulder," she assured him with a teasing smirk. "And...ironic it may be...but I can't argue with how things worked out. ...I love you, Red."
At that, Red snickered a little, and shook his head. "And... I'll try not to overreact, if you -do-..." He then paused, growing somber again... reaching up to shyly touch his fingertips to her cheek. "I love you too, Finch."
