Last night I found out that Marvel is going to be publishing at least two romances based on superheroes, and I kind of word-vomited all over tumblr about how I started reading comics and why this development bothers me so much. (I seriously have no idea what belongs on tumblr versus LJ/DW vs twitter.

The odd thing is that they've done this before. They published two teen romance novels starring Mary Jane Watson and then...nothing. I wonder why they haven't learned from the past.

(And I remain convinced fandom has done and will do superhero romance better than any 'official' writer ever will - even if I'm very much going to read these books if they come out and get positive reviews - or have just been written by authors I like.)
