Chapter One - Kristy

November 1. 3103 words.

You know that second chapter, that everyone skips, because it's expositiony?

Yeah. I wrote it.

I don't blame you for skipping, although there's much Pike child-age at the end.

Hey, be like you were in fourth grade. Skim the bitch.

Aw, thanks!

I'm trying very hard to be as expositiony as I need.

Not to nitpick, but isn't Kristy always wearing jeans and a turtleneck, not jeans and a sweatshirt? Thism ight sound weird, but I can honestly not see Kristy in a sweatshirt.

I'm pretty sure she wore sweatshirts too. With turtlenecks underneath. Which makes me wonder if Stoneybrook was furnace-free, cause DAMN, that would be a hot ensemble.

Or maybe Kristy was anorexically athletic and couldn't generate her own body heat.

Ooh, good call.

I should edit that.

*ponders the effort of editing*

I'm going to pretend that that's what I said.

*hugs you*

Thanks.

First of all, you terrify me.
Second of all, Kristy would NEVER call anyone on the Krushers "unskilled." They just aren't READY for Little League yet. Dontcha know.
I'm disturbed that I both know this and feel strongly enough about it to comment. Sigh.

"I would take on any kid who really wanted to play on a team, no matter how... klutzy or uncoordinated he or she was." ("Kristy and the Walking Disaster," 28)

"As you might have guessed, they aren't great players." ("Kristy's Secret Admirer," 2)

"And with the variety of kids on the Krushers team - twenty, with an average age of 5.8, and a wide range of skills - it is extremely important to be prepared."

I went looking for the "unskilled" reference, but can't find it, so I concede. For now.

(And, dude. Comments make me write faster. I don't know if that's a promise or a threat.)

::peeks in::

Hello! Don't ask how I found my way here, cause I don't even remember. ^.^ But.. DUDE. Could this be any more awesome?? :D

I admit to reading one other BSC fanfic before, and it was all.. future-y and I was new to ANY fandom so I was too naive to realise the badness. ;) But this? Whee! This is EXACTLY like the books, which everyone has already said.

Can I just make it clear right now about how much of a geek I was? I still have every single on of these books someplace, and if they were in an easier to get to spot, I'd read a random one every so often just to be all nostalgic. They were FUN! I ADORED them. Everytime I see someone online saying how they used to read them but really sorta hated them? I'm all "but.. I loved them!" ;P And feel more like a geek.

Er.. anyway. Heh. I adore this, and must continue reading now. Like the geek I am. ^.^

(Claire is so cute! Tehee.)
