You're not being disgustingly straight-laced. If you are, that means I am too! I will NOT do the garter thing at my wedding. Nor the tossing of the flowers, mashing cake into each other's faces, no, no and no. I find it somewhat tacky and strange, but hey...it works for some people, just not for me.

I'm back! Not as scary as I made it out to be. I actually had a really good time, which is refreshing. Extremely refreshing. There will definitely be another date.
I agree with you about the whole "dating game" dance. It's weird and wonderful and I think there *must* be a reason why it exists, because it seems like *everyone* does it. *shrugs* All I know is that you've had a date and it went well and that's something you ought to be very happy about. Oh - and the thing about the garter belt and everything - I think that's something that the guys made up a long time ago. Nothing to do, really, with the whole biblical liturgy about two fleshes becoming one. I think, initially, it was meant as an entirely metaphorical speech, but really... in my honest opinion, there can be something sacred about having sex with someone that you've sworn yourself to... funny that you mention dates and weddings in the same post. it made me grin mischievously. I am not sure about the sexual parts of weddings and when they originated, but I think the part with the garter is relatively modern. relatively, mind. I don't think anything of this sort would have been allowed 150 years ago.
