How do you deal with dicks in MMOs?

Is /ignore adequate for you? Do you try to talk out whatever the situation is? Just asking because nothing ever feels satisfying and trying to be nice to these people generally seems to be taken as an invitation to be a bigger jerk. But it seems to be that whatever MMO world you go to, rude people (usually with poor grammar) are ubiquitous.

I think I feel quite the same. We tend to only play with people I've met in meatspace or have known for a while. Most of the time we'd be at least as well served if we were allowed LAN play, with rare exceptions such as present company.

"Cant be an turd online with your fingers smashed to pulp."
Heh, mind if I quote you on that? It's... succinct.

Can't say that it has been that much of a problem for me, really. Of course, I only play 2 MMOs ( ... )

Thanks for the insight! If someone starts whispering me with jerk stuff I can reply back in a different language for some subtlety points. :D

I like open-world games like GW2 and TSW, and Saints Row. The MMO thing is an unfortunate pack-in in most cases. I'm probably not going to know four other people I can take into a dungeon which has inexplicably-boosted baddies. I hear Blizzard's planning a 1-player version of WoW and if that happens it'll be an interesting paradigm shift.
