Last Saturday I ran my fourth half marathon--and PR'd, which is nuts, considering how crap my training has been the last four months. But I beat my previous time by over a minute and half! I've read a lot about the Boston marathon and, honestly, this post is one of the most heart-felt and striking, in how personal it is and how thoughtful. Thank you for sharing it

I'm so sorry that the joy of your achievement on Saturday has been tarnished by the Boston attack. As you say, it's a special marathon. I hope it will recover, in time. Making it do so is the best response to the outrage.

Congratulations on your half-marathon; it sounds as though you got your timing and pacing exactly right. (By the way, slow as ... balls? Never heard that before!)

i have a friend whose brother is a boston cop and was on duty that day. he's fine, but ugh.

One of my best friends is a paramedic in Boston, and she normally has to work the race route. Luckily this year she was off that day. Still, she got called into work after the library explosion happened. But she's fine.
