When I started dancing I read about the 10,000 hour rule of thumb.
It was a bit depressing, thinking how far out that was.
In fact, I realized I'd given up guitar after maybe 100 or 200 hours at most. Usually, the rule of thumb is 100 hours and you can stick with it. So what was different?
My practice was mostly frustrating, and I realize now, way after the fact, that I'd been trying to fly before walking, loading my brain up with data instead of just playing and enjoying it. Trying to be the boss mob before I was done being a six string goblin.
That's why it bugs me when people say an I-can't to me. It's ok to not be a pro on the first day. It's ok to be a goblin and bask in the glory of the bosses.
There's a point when dedication turns to fun. Then it's too late to turn back!
