There's a strange cat hanging around. I have enough of my own (3 inside cats), and I cannot have another. More to the point, one of my cats has a very low white blood count all the time (a congential condition) so any sickness would be very dangerous to him. So I don't want the other cat hanging around ( Read more... )

*Pets you*

You have inside cats, yeah? Try getting some of their soiled litter or poop and put it outside where the cat is likely to find it. Cats are really territorial, and will stay away if they thing another cat occupies that area.
If you have a cat flap, make sure that the new cat can't get in, something like those magentised cat flaps with the collars or something.
Hmm only other advice I can offer is not to feed it at all, once it realises you won't feed it, it might go elsewhere to hang around.
I'll go flick through all my old uni notes and see if I can find something I've forgotten for you :D

Hmm I'll try to spread some litter around, see if that works.

Thanks my dear! <3

I have to tell you, I cracked up giggling at the bit about your 'shooing' competency - made me think of Az (or possibly Raph) trying to shoo a demon (read: Crowley) XD

Maybe try spraying water in its general direction (not directly at it, just close)? You wouldn't be hurting the cat, and it's not exactly mean - you're trying to protect your own cat(s) from getting sick, right? That's more important - family first and all (unless you don't consider your cats as family o.o).
Or try spreading moth balls or something around the property... unless it eats them, then that causes more problems o.O

Lol, that's hilarious you thought of that because while I was shooting the cat I thought I'm about as good at this as Azi or Raph would be! xDD Great minds think alike!

Yea, cats are family. And mothballs are sprayed and I spreayed this stuff called cat away and it wasn't there yesterday, so maybe it won't come back. *crosses fingers*

Thanks! *glomp*

My house has the same problem with stray/neighbor's cats, and my mother mentioned to me that putting really, really spicy chili pepper juice on the areas/plants the cat frequents would be enough to scare it off after a few times. I agree with goneshootin - spraying water very close to it might also make it scamper off.

I can sympathize, though. I am *the* biggest pushover for cats *ever*. I'm not allowed out into the yard when the neighbor's cats come around because my parents know if they send me out to shoo it, my reaction will be rather similiar to yours: "Shoo. Shoo, cat! Please? OMG KITTY <3"

Best of luck. Maybe one of the no-kill shelters will open up a space soon, and then you can give them a call.

Hmm chilli pepper juice, that's a good idea. *will add it to the moth balls and anti-cat spray*

And I am so a pushover as well. For anything really. If that wasn't made apparent in my post lol.

Thanks. So far no go, but maybe someone around here will take it? It's been a day since I've seen it so perhaps someone took it in.

I am a pushover too. ;) I can't even shoo cats. Heck, I feel mean if I see a cat nearby and go on my merry way ignoring it, which means I've missed the bus a few times because I was too busy petting Sariel or someone. Yes, I named all, except for one, the cats living under my block after angels - I met Gabriel again yesterday after I hadn't seen him in a while and I was all, "GABRIEL!" :D and he started mewing and ran towards me and purred and rubbed against me and was so affectionate I just melted. He has the softest fur. Tomorrow's lunch money went on food for him and Loki ( ... )
