Dear Yuletide Author 2012,
First of all, I would like to say thank you for volunteering to write in at least one of the fandoms I have requested. I don’t see enough fanfiction for any of the ones I’ve selected which makes me really excited for the fic you will be writing.
I guess the first thing to know about my likes when it comes to fanfiction is that I absolutely adore stories that focus on family. I love to read stories that focus on the relationships amongst our protagonists and their loved ones. I tend to focus on stories that provide in-depth analysis of father-son relationships, brother-sister relationships, mother-son relationships, etc. Basically, I love stories that focus on the immediate family, how they interact with one another, and how they work together to solve whatever problem they are having in the fic.
Another thing I adore is angst. I like at least one of the protagonists to have a problem that causes a lot of heartache. Whether he or she is hurt and needs help, or he or she is having a relationship problem with a girlfriend/boyfriend, or he or she is having a problem with a family member and it’s causing a lot of pain, it doesn’t matter, I’ll love it! Oh, and I love it being resolved somehow. I don’t like our beloved characters being left in limbo, and I’d really prefer to not have them dying, haha. Of course, you don’t have to write angst at all, as you know. It can be a pure fluff piece and I’ll be just as happy! LOL
Okay, I suppose I’ll talk about the individual fandoms now:
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe-In this fandom, I tend to love stories that primarily focus on Prince Adam. I enjoy plots that deal with how his secret affects him and the people he loves. I suppose I should also let you know that I prefer the 80’s version. Of course, if you want to write about the 200X He-Man, that’s fine. If you need to research this fandom, a good place to start would be he-man.org. The website has links that tell you about the characters, as well as episode summaries, etc. (If you want to combine this fandom with She-Ra: Princess of Power, that’s fine. In fact, that would be great but not required, of course!)
She-Ra: Princess of Power-This fandom, of course, is closely related to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe since She-Ra/Adora and He-Man/Adam are brother and sister. I tend to like stories in this fandom that focus on Princess Adora (and Prince Adam when he’s there, LOL). Once again, I like fics that explore the relationships between the characters involved. Like I said above, if you want to combine this fandom with He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, that would be great but again not required! Once again, an ideal place to go to find information, episode summaries, and character analysis, etc. is he-man.org.
Dexter-What can I say? He’s America’s beloved and favorite serial killer, right? In this fandom, I pretty much enjoy anything as long as Dexter is our protagonist. If you want to touch upon the family dynamics with his sister Debra and/or Harrison to hit on my preferences, that’s great but if you want to write a good old “Dexter kills the bad guy” fic, that’s fine by me, as well. In this show, I especially like how Dexter struggles with his Dark Passenger and who he wants to be. I’m very much enjoying this season and the whole plot with Debra. (I’m not listing spoilers just in case you haven’t seen it, but it can give you an idea of what I like.) I also like the moments his imaginary/dead father pops up to give him advice on whatever is going on.
Again, thank you for writing this story for me! I hope my preferences haven’t scared you from writing, haha.
