Kika: *Sits down at a table at the tavern with the men, after ordering a round of drinks* Well, It's been a while, hasn't it? Perhaps longer for others than for me. *Looks back and forth between Hervey and Sigurd.*
Hervey: *grins, sitting back comfortably in the chair* It's definitely been a while, captain. I almost didn't expect t'be sharing drinks with you and Sig again.
Geddoe: *quietly sitting beside Sigurd with an arm over the back of his chair, unobtrusively*
Sigurd: Though I will be having just the one tonight. As usual.
Hervey: Just one? *sighs* Man, Sig, don'tcha' ever get less boring 'bout this kinda' stuff??
Kika: Some things never change.....But others.. Sigurd, where the hell have you been lately?
Sigurd: Ah...well....to be honest, I've made a hermit of myself while I recover.
Geddoe: *into his mug of ale* ...sounds familiar.
Sigurd: A bit of mental baggage to go along with the arm sling, I'm afraid
Kika: *Sighs, and grabs her drink, taking a swig.* I already told you what I think. I trust you're taking care of it...
Hervey: *tilts his head to the side, playing with his mug* You're still caught up on that??
Sigurd: You and Hervey helped immensely, actually. I'm as good as back on my feet
Kika: Good. Even if I no longer have the right to give you orders, I don't want you losing sleep.
Geddoe: Trust me, he isn't.
Hervey: ... *pulls a face*
Geddoe: I made sure he didn't worry himself sick this time... *eyes Hervey* Not like that.
Hervey: *puts his hands up in the air, as if innocent* Hey! I didn't say a thing!
Kika: *Chuckles, then turns back to Sigurd* Well, I'm glad you're alright, all the same. *Raises her mug to toast*
Geddoe: *raises his in agreement*
Hervey: *nods and follows suit, grinning*
Kika: *Drinks, and turns to Hervey this time* I'm glad you're doing better too. Not sure I particularly like 'laid back' Hervey.
Hervey: *cringes at the mention of that, lowering his drink a little* I... I honestly don't have a clue what was going on there. *pauses* I mean, I was kinda' lightheaded the whole time...
Sigurd: -holds back a guffaw-
Geddoe: You looked like you were half asleep. Going on about clouds.
Hervey: C-clouds? What about clouds?? *looks a little in disbelief, opting to down his drink rather than protest some more*
Geddoe: Something about how fluffy they were.
Hervey: ... Fluffy. Right. *clears his throat, looking a little embarrassed here*
Kika: You sure you have no idea what was going on?
Sigurd: I refuse to believe this is the first time you haven't touched some questionable plants...
Geddoe: *eyebrow raise*
Hervey: Positive. I was eatin' lunch, then next thing I -- hey, c'mon, I'm totally innocent! I wouldn't lie!
Sigurd: What was your lunch then? -stiffles a chuckle-
Hervey: Sandwich. *frowns a little*
Kika: Where did you get this sandwich?
Hervey: The cafe! *feels like he's being interrogated here* C'mon, I swear, I don't do weird plants.
Geddoe: Well, there were a few pranks going around, on account of Queen's little game.
Kika: Queen? Oh yes, she held that game of truth or dare. I don't doubt Hervey would jump at the chance to be involved in it... *smirks*
Hervey: ... *cringes again, not caring to mention his dare too much* Hah, yeah, but I bet other people 'round here took part... right? *looks at the others, almost desperately*
Geddoe: *shakes his head* Nope. I know better. I wouldn't get within a mile of that, even if I had been awake that night.
Sigurd: Yeah, something I tend to avoid.
Kika: Incidentally, I had the chance to meet Queen not long after the game. She said she was a mercenary before coming here. Any relation to you, Geddoe?
Geddoe: *slight nod* She worked for me for many years. The only reason she isn't now is because she settled down, married, and had kids.
Kika: Understandable. She seems to have adapted...fairly well to the lifestyle. I doubt I could do something like that. *finishes off her drink*
Kika: Even if I wanted to.
Geddoe: I would have thought the same about myself. *fond look in Sigurd's direction*
Kika: Ah...but therein lies the difference between getting married, and settling down.
Kika: The two of you don't seem to have any intention of the latter.
Sigurd: erm, that being said....There's something I wanted to ask you. The both of you
Hervey: Both of us? *echoes it kind of stupidly*
Geddoe: *shuts up and lets Sigurd speak, drinking deeply of his ale*
Kika: Oh?
Sigurd: Well, as you may have heard, Geddoe and I are going freelance. And you two aren't exactly in the holds of gainful employment.
Kika: True...
Hervey: Yeah, I'm listening...?
Sigurd: Mercenary work. Would you do it?
Sigurd: Not that different from privateering, without all the mucking about with traders.
Kika: Hmm. While I'm not opposed to the idea, it's been a long time since I've taken someone else's orders. *picks up her mug and stares at it, as if willing it to refill itself.*
Hervey: *kind of waiting for his captain's decision, he has to admit* ... Well, I'm already doing mercenary work. Kind of. *he crosses his arms, leaning back in his chair*
Geddoe: If it's any comfort, I'm usually pretty lax about the formalities. But I've been doing this a long time, and I've got all the contacts in this region.
Kika: *Looks at Geddoe* And I've still got my ship...or will soon enough.
Geddoe: I would understand if you preferred to stay on the seas. It's about the same as Sigurd asking me to be a pirate.
Hervey: *nods slightly, finding the situation a little uncomfortable* I'm itchin' to get out on the sea again, I won't lie.
Geddoe: The choice is yours. I would welcome the chance to work alongside either or both of you, but if that isn't want you want, so be it.
Sigurd: Well....we could always base ourselves out of the ship....
Sigurd: That way we can be away from the castle should trouble come looking for us.
Kika: That's what I was going to suggest... With use of my ship, it'd be easy to travel to work in other areas that may require your services even more than those here.
Geddoe: *leans in and whispers in Sigurd's ear* And what if we find out that I get seasick easily?
Kika: *raises an eyebrow* Assuming you don't have too much of attachment to this region.
Geddoe: ....well, actually...I do. I have contacts here, I'm close to the clan leaders all over the Grasslands. I know where to find work here. In a foreign country, I'd be at a loss.
Sigurd: -another whisper- We have cures for that...
Sigurd: -to the group- I really don't. I have friends here. People I care about and wish to protect. But in order to do that I need to get back to what I do best. And that's being a fighting man.
Kika: Well..I may have to think about it. I too would prefer to be at sea, but this is the best job offer I've gotten.
Hervey: *nods... slowly* I'm with the captain on this one. I mean... it's not like I'm not already doing mercenary work, but... y'know?
Kika: At the same time, it's difficult to run a ship without a crew, and I'm currently lacking one.
Geddoe: I wouldn't know the first thing about ships. *sits back, almost hiding behind Sigurd*
Kika: Well..these two do, and I bet you'd catch on pretty quick....with Sigurd teaching you.
Geddoe: Then I would be in the same situation as you...taking someone else's orders when I'm not used to it. *shakes his head* I don't think I could do it.
Sigurd: Honestly, given we know longer have to answer to Harmonia, we no longer have to adhere to their command system.
Sigurd: This can be pretty free form, when needed.
Kika: Any chance of compromise, sharing the role perhaps? At sea, I'm captain, on land Geddoe could be in charge. I don't think that's a bad deal, with most if not all of the actual work being on land.
Geddoe: *goes really quiet and seems more interested in finishing his drink for a while*
Hervey: *raises an eyebrow at that* Huh...
Sigurd: Hmm...perhaps that is something you and Geddoe should work out -NUDGE NUDGE-
Kika: Well, it was just a suggestion.
Geddoe: Not right now. It's...too much to consider just yet.
Kika: I understand. Didn't mean to overstep my bounds. After all, I'm the one being offered a job. I'll get back to you when I've had more time to think.
Geddoe: *silent nod, and goes back to his drink*
Kika: In the meantime I'm more concerned about getting my ship back. Like I said before, sailing isn't easy without a crew...
Kika: I'm heading back to Vinay soon to pick it up, and I wouldn't mind having some help. *looks back and forth to both Hervey and Sigurd*
Hervey: *nods -- that's an easy decision, at least* Yeah, I'm all for helping, captain!
Kika: That's one... *Smiles to Geddoe* I promise I won't keep him for long, if he's willing.
Geddoe: *blankly* It's up to him.
Sigurd: I'll do it.
Sigurd: That ship was my home for many years. I owe it that much.
Kika: Good to hear it. It'll be nice to have you two onboard again, even if it does happen to be the last time.
Hervey: *looks a little uncomfortable hearing that* Y-yeah. For sure.
Sigurd: -a bit more confident- The last time? There's never a last time.
Kika: Actually, there's always a last time...but I'm glad to hear you say that.
Sigurd: Any time that boat sets sail it could be its last journey, Lady Kika, but as for us...there's never a last time.
Geddoe: *has finished his drink and sits gazing into the empty mug*
Kika: *smiles slightly* Thanks, Sigurd. *notices Geddoe* Shall we order another round? Or maybe we should call it a night.
Geddoe: *glances to Sigurd to make the decision for them, as he doesn't really care*
Sigurd: As I said, just the one for me.
Geddoe: Well, then. *gets up and leaves some potch on the table to cover their two drinks* Let's head back to the room. Hervey, Kika. *nods*
Hervey: *slight nod* Yeah. I'll see you two 'round. *small, casual salute*
Kika: Take care.
Kika: I suppose I'll turn in too, then.
Hervey: Yeah... it was nice t'catch up with everyone like this, though I get the feeling this isn't what anyone expected. *wry grin*
Kika: I know what you mean....
Hervey: ... Well, whatever you decision you make, I'll be behind you all the way. *flashes an easy smile*
Kika: Thanks. We'll have more time to discuss it when we go pick up the Grishend. And the sooner the better, on that. I honestly can't stand it being out of sight, and in the hands of strangers.
Hervey: No kidding. *shakes his head* At least when you weren't here, I knew it was with you somewhere. Now it's just... tch! Well, just tell me when you need me. Hopefully it won't be during the tournament, yeah?
Kika: Hmm. I forgot about the tournament. Maybe we can go after your next match. I'm assuming, of course, that you will be well enough afterwards.
Hervey: *laughs* 'course! I don't plan on losing, captain, even if I'm fighting with my rival. That's fine with me.
Kika: You know, I could stand another drink after all, how about you? *smiles, and orders herself another* How did you end up fighting with him, anyway?
Hervey: I wouldn't mind another. *does the same, thinking about her question for a moment* Me and him, huh? Well... *he smirks -- it's kinda' dumb in hindsight* You know the whole Adonis thing...?
Kika: *Sighs, amused* Yeah...
Hervey: Well, he started that Reverse Adonis thing with Trishtan 'n Travis -- and I wasn't too happy about that. *small shrug* I guess it kinda' got outta' hand from there.
Kika: Heh...I see.
Hervey: *waves a hand and takes another drink* It isn't too important, anyway! These kinda' things just come outta' nowhere all the time -- it's not like we're gonna' kill each other.
Kika: Oh of course not. *drinks again as well* I suspect you'll die in a much more humorous way. *smirks* Giant crabs, for instance.
Hervey: *cringe* I fought one of those a few months back, y'know. *frowns* Totally not a way I'd like to go out -- I eat crabs! Dying to one would just be humiliating! *good-natured, despite*
Kika: *laughs* You're too talented a fighter to go out like that, anyway.
Hervey: Glad you think so. *leans forward on the table a little, watching her carefully* ... 'sides, if I died, I'd rather die protecting you. And I don't think a giant crab would do that, huh?
Kika: *Leans back and takes another drink from her mug, looking back at him through the bottom of the glass* No, I've never had much trouble with them.
Hervey: *laughs, almost disappointed at her reaction* Figures. At least that's good for the both of us, though.
Kika: *Puts the mug down again, still smirking from before* Some things....really don't change, do they?
Hervey: Did you expect them to? *grins*
Kika: *smile fades, almost instantly* I was faced with far more change than I expected, when I got here.
Hervey: *considers that* ... Yeah, I can imagine. From dumb things like the weather to just the people and the time. *sighs* I bet even Sigurd was a change, yeah? Even though he's happy and that.
Kika: About Sigurd...
Hervey: *blinks* Huh?
Kika: Geddoe seems like a good enough guy, all be it a bit mysterious. I'm just worried about what could happen. I don't want to see anyone get hurt.
Hervey: *not quite getting it* What do you mean? ... The mercenary job? *runs an absent hand through his hair*
Kika: Yeah. It's not that far off from piracy, in that it's not safe. I have faith in both your and Sigurd's fighting ability, and Geddoe looks like he can more than hold his own. All the same...
Hervey: *kind of a startled laugh more than anything* Captain, we're all big boys! Sigurd used t'be in the navy. He knows what he's signed up for -- nothing that any of us do is safe.
Kika: What I'm trying to say is...*pauses and takes a large gulp of her drink, before putting it back on the table, not so gently* It's one thing to lose a comrad in battle, but losing a lover is entirely different.
Hervey: *winces -- right, he knows where this is going now. he sighs, looking a little more sober about it now* ... Yeah, that, huh? I was hoping t'avoid that...
Kika: *sighs* Whatever. I've never expected either of you to die of anything but old age. *Forces a smile, and takes another drink, ready to change the subject*
Hervey: Old age would be too cruel on us. *smiles back at her* I don't think I could stand looking old and wrinkly.
Kika: *shakes her head, smile gaining a bit more realism* I don't suppose you could. Speaking of which, how old is Geddoe? He looks a bit older than you and Sigurd.
Hervey: *realizes that, for a moment, he isn't too sure* Old. *that's his first response, and it's a little blunt* ... I mean... from what I've heard, he's ancient.
Kika: ....Ancient? He doesn't look like he could be much older than me.
Hervey: He has a True Rune... or something. I remember that being brought up during the ruckus 'round here 'bout a year ago.. *waves vaguely*
Kika: *a bit speechless* .....Is that so?
Hervey: Yeah. *looks at her funny* And if you think that's weird, you've gotta' start getting used to it, captain. *laughs* Everyone and their mum has a True Rune 'round here.
Kika: So I've heard.... And I'm really not that surprised by it, what with all the other odd things that surround this place.
Hervey: Tell me about it. I mean, how can Viki be in so many wars and still be so... young? *adds, as an afterthought* And cute.
Kika: *ignores the afterthought* She very well could be the missing link here. That, or it's usually safe to blame runes.
Hervey: Some people've said that Viki wasn't around when they got thrown away. *shrugs* Either way, it's pretty creepy that everyone ends up here. ... If Dario ends up here, I'll be spewin'. *slightly sulky look*
Kika: Heh... Well I'd like to see him again.
Hervey: So he can pick on me and force me t'do things 'cause he's my senior? *grumbles* I'd like to see Nalleo again. There's someone t'boss around!
Kika: I don't think Dario would take well to you bossing Nalleo around. *drinks some more, finally calm again*
Hervey: *smirks* It's a vicious cycle, ain't it? Dario bosses me 'round, I boss Nalleo 'round in revenge, and it just keeps going...
Kika: That doesn't seem very fair to Nalleo.
Hervey: Nalleo loves it! Anything t'become a better pirate. *grins*
Kika: *Eyes him* And that makes it fair?
Hervey: *looks a little guilty* Well... he's always so eager, with those puppy eyes... I can't just let him sit around!
Kika: *Chuckles* He's a good kid. Maybe you could learn a few things from him.
Hervey: What, like, his fashion sense, maybe? *laughs at the thought of it* I mean, that thing on his head...
Kika: And the thing around your neck is so much better?
Hervey: ... *ouch ouch ouch* ... Th-this is fashionable. *tugs on it, laughing a little nervously*
Kika: Fashionable isn't the word I'd use, but it suites you well enough. *smiles at him*
Hervey: I'd look naked without it, right?
Kika: You could say that.
Hervey: Maybe I should take it off for you. *winks suggestively, and braces himself for a smack all at once*
Kika: *Has had just enough to drink to play along...slightly* Maybe you should..... It'll give me the chance I need to burn it.
Hervey: *looks surprised for a second... but at the last part, he sniggers* Better than a slap, and it even hurts more!
Kika: Hmph. *Finishes her drink, satisfied with herself*
Hervey: *wondering if he should take his chances again... and leans back in his chair once again* Then again, you and fire? Pretty hot. *badddddd pun*
Kika: Hervey....
Hervey: ... Yeah?~
Kika: *looks him VERY sternly* That's quite enough.
Hervey: *oh boy -- he sits up straight in his chair, throwing another casual salute with his hand as he goes to take a drink. When he sets it down he's grinning a little* Gotcha', captain! I'm a changed man, now.
Kika: *shakes her head* ...Uh huh.
Hervey: ... I promise? *smiiiles*
Kika: *Stands up, and puts some potch on the table for her drinks* Right.
Hervey: Oh, man. *he looks at the potch for a sec and sighs, finishing his drink as well* Okay, I've learnt my lesson!
Kika: Sure. *Walks out*
Hervey: ... I screwed it that time! *decides to order another drink, just to drown his sorrows ;;;*
Kika: *sticks her head back in with a small smirk* I'll see you later, Hervey.
Hervey: *gives her a lazy wave* See you, captain~
