[Mitsuhide is cooking in the kitchen. He is not talking much, seemingly focused entirely on the task at hand. For him, it has been a long while since he used a modern kitchen and he is having to adjust once more.]

[It is a simple omelette, and he isn't doing too badly, though it will not be as good as those he can make when fully comfortable in the kitchen.]

[After a short while, he raises his head briefly and looks at Megumi, a question forming soundlessly on his lips before he actually manages to ask it.]

[Megumi watches Mitsuhide cook, dark eyes warm with affection as she observes him acclimatizing once again to the technology. It is a familiar and comforting sight to see him in the kitchen, and she smiles softly as she sets the table.]

[However, when he glances as her, asking of her knowledge, she stills at her task of placing the utensils, before moving close to him once again, gazing up at him.]

When Kaoru-san was trying to keep Ken-san away from Shishio, she asked me what I would do had you been in Ken-san's place.

I said . . . of course I'd want you to stay by my side. I want you to be safe, hale, and whole. Healthy, and happy, and most of all, with me.

But . . . I could never stop you from doing what is right.

And . . . as Kaoru-san's love has guided Ken-san, I have faith that my love will guide you back to me, and that you will keep your promise and that we will be together always. As you have.

But I also knew that you would come home to me. And you have.

[He does not reply to what she has said any further than those thanks, just nodding and hugging her close for a moment before returning to his cooking.]

[Megumi watches him thoughtfully, her heart aching as she sees how difficult it is for him. She embraces him close to her tightly, holding him a moment, soothing and reassuring him before allowing him to return to his cooking. She knows that he is gradually beginning to open up about the past, but she will not rush him. His healing will take its course, and she will always support him and give him everything that he needs.]

[She gives him a gentle smile, rising up to kiss his cheek, before cupping his face to kiss his mouth.]

[Her eyes are soft and warm, bright with love.]

[Knowing that he wishes to speak of other things for now, she directs the conversation to their meal.]
