So, i think i know what it must feel like to be stalked or randomly hit-on via technology. The other week I accidentally called a wrong number, off by a digit. This guy called me and asked "Did you just call me not too long ago?" I replied, "Yes, I did. But it was the wrong number." i think you can block the number on your phone, contact your service provider to see how to do this.

keep track of all correspondence --date, time and what occurred.
if he continues, you can file an order for protection with the courts but that requires you know his name etc.

if he contacts you again before you're able to block his number, tell him you have contacted the police and any contact is now considered harassment.

he sounds creepy. does he know anything about you beyond your phone number?

you can't get an order of protection against someone who is not a) a family member or b) in a dating relationship with you.

do not do not do not contact him back. that weakens any telephone harassment case.

yes yes yes get a block on the phone and document.

its not actually stalking until they persist after telling them to stop. so you did the right thing in articulating that. save those messages just in case. if he keeps at it, i would suggest calling the phone company first about blocking the #, in lieu of the police. though i'd probably tell HIM that i was contacting the police.
