I know, I'd probably get more as well because I have the children, thing is I don't want to buy a house now as my credit's not so good and I wouldn't be offered much of a mortgage so was thinking if I leave it a year then buy one and ask for my share then...

You are not entitled to any profit the reason for this is that the mortgagee is in his name and not in yours.
