I get back from my semi-annual haircut to see a new message in my UR inbox. A Facebook friends request from someone named Boris. Boris? What the heck? I only know one person named Boris, and I've never actually met him. He's a guy on one of those morning radio shows. So I go to Facebook and check him out. He goes to Stanford, gives no indication of ( Read more... )

Thunderbird rules.

You could just install Windows 95 or 98 in Virtual PC for Mac. You would need Virtual PC and a Windows 9x cd.

Thunderbird >> default mail program. I don't know how I survived in the days before I used an email client.

Virtual PC, eh? Looks like Steve can hook me up. Thanks! :)

Yeah. Mac mail is very cutesy, but I grew to hate the sucktitude of its Junk Mail filters. I just couldn't train it to do my bidding. Thunderbird's junk mail capabilities were practically expert after two days of training. It was also a pain in the ass to get GnuPG [read: PGP] working in Mail (hack) vs Thunderbird (plugin).

9 out of 10 Mac Users agree that MS Entourage sucks.

I can get you Virtual PC if you can find a Win98 installer.

Would Windows XP work? One of my friends says he has a copy of it that he can give me.

I don't know if XP will work. I mean, yes XP will work with Virtual PC, but I don't know if your game will run under "Windows 98 compatibility mode" in XP.

Keep in mind that Virtual PC is pretty terrible, and I wouldn't expect much in the way of performance from your G4 iBook. You'd probably be better off buying a cheapo used PC from someone on craigslist and using it just for one game.

Anyway, let me know if you need VPC.

It may not work. I know that Redneck Rampage and the first Tomb Raider for Windows 95 won't run in Win2k or XP.

I looked around and found that on Douglas Adams' website... but you need a serial number to play, one that apparently comes from the first screen you come to in the game.
