Every Apple event is continually leaving me disappointed. I was hoping for something that really did show a return to Mac (OS X) but all I got was more: We had this great product on iphone and ipad, now we're bringing it to the Mac. The Mac is gonna be more like the ipad. Check out this demo on the iphone. iPhone, iPad, iPhone, iPad, iPhone, iPad, iPhone, iPad, Mac.

I concur about the disappointment ratio this time.
OS 10.7 is the beginning of a ugly return to unwelcome oversight of the operating system. Many writers have already railed against the idea of an app store for OS X. I agree with much of their logic. I'm keeping bootable copies of OS 10.5 and 10.6 handy, along with computer that will run them for as long as possible.
And you will too once you read the first draft of the rules released to the developers community.

eeesh, it's almost a copy and paste of the iphone app store rule set. It's extremely restrictive to developers. My concern is the problem with reinstalling your apps if you buy them through the app store? Are they going to be full self contained packages that you can backup yourself, and if you forget to back one up and have to reinstall the OS do you have to rebuy the package in order to install it like you currently have to do in iOS?
I was also really let down with the whole "What would happen if we married a Mac and iPad" section. I was really hoping for an ipad form factor mac book that ran OS X with multi-gesture recognition. Instead all we got was a new Macbook Air, which i still find to be the least appealing Apple hardware.

Get a copy while you are able. I'm sure Apple Legal will demand this be removed shortly.
