The FPS song

Oct 03, 2005 18:21

So I went and looked on Google because I couldn't remember all the lyrics to the FPS song (or even the official title), and there's absolutely nothing anywhere. So I thought I'd fish around here, and see if anyone has either a better memory than me or a copy of the lyrics ( Read more... )

hahaha oh the FPS song. This year my coach and I were laughing so hard we were in tears and singing at the top of our lungs. Sadly I think I only know the words when I'm singing along hahahaha. it's something about being the children of the future or junk like that.

It seems like every year the choir gets more and more.. haggard, which makes it funnier but it sucks that there are so few people who sign up.

I was in the act after the choir, and therefore was behind the stage during the song, and took the opportunity to lip-synch and gesture outrageously. It was quite fun.

I know it goes, "We are the children, we are the future... blabbity blabbity," if we're talking about the same one. We've skipped the Variety Show in favor of our own escapades in frequent years, so I can't remember if the song they sing at our State Bowl is the official song or not. If it is, I know I've got it on the back of a program somewhere upstairs in my closet if we get desperate.

Frankly, it makes me want to stab my eye out with... something. This past year at States, everyone was so eager to leave the awards (they went on FOREVER and were delayed because of this dumb boomerang man they hired to entertain people for about an hour before the ceremony was scheduled. He would NOT leave the stage. They essentially had to open the curtains behind him and just start the awards to get him off... uggg...) and there was something wrong with the equipment, so the song turned into some sort of half-assed gargle while everyone glared at us in envy for having a mountain of trophies and rushed to leave. Very, er, inspirational. We just ( ... )

Ahhhh... Thank you. As my last act on Earth, I dug up a program from 2003 and have the lyrics to the song.

When you look into our eyes, you'll see it
And when you look into our smiles, you'll feel it
And when you look into our hearts, you'll know
The hope we have for our tomorrow

And though each step seems small, it matters
For when stepping one and all, together
We can climb atop the highest mountain
Or travel a new highway.

Chorus
We are the children, we are the future
We are the treasures that you hold
Let's walk together towards that future
And we'll see our dreams unfold

For we'll be the children of yesterday
We are the leaders of tomorrow
Let's all make a difference right here today
So we can have a better world tomorrowThough each step seemed small, it mattered ( ... )

PS It's called "The Children, Our Future" (how creative) by Roseanne Markham

All I will say is that at the most recent IC, my team was backstage while the choir was onstage singing the song. And we had a total blast being horrible role models for all the younger kids by acting out the song and totally hamming it up ("we are the future" become an overly grand, forward hand gesture, "climb the highest mountain" involved overly labored climbing motions, etc and we were pantomiming bad opera singing the whole time). That was very fun.

Nope, we don't. I doubt anybody here has heard of it, apart from possibly the people who've been to the Internationals. What's it like?
