Today will be my first full day in Austria. Traveling here was relatively easy (though I did almost end up in Los Vegas by accident -- long story). Regardless, after a long day of travel I arrived here in Salzburg around 2 pm local time, which was good since the conference began at 4pm. After two days of forced lounging and relaxing, we are out of the mountains and back at my parents' place in Fort Collins. Just in time, too, since we leave tomorrow to return to NC. And then, two days after that, I'm off to Austria. Lots of traveling.

And I still need to finish writing my syllabi for spring semester, which starts, uh, very soon.

For those interested, we're still stuck in Copper Mountain! Wind gusts at the pass and tunnels are up to 70 MPH, with visibility of five feet. There are also concerns about avalanches. No update from the Colorado DOT about when the highways will reopen. So, we're still here ( Read more... )

So, elemmire7 and I are visiting my parents in Coloroado this week, and we decided to come up to the Copper Mountain ski resort area to cross-country ski and snowshoe. In addition to my parents, mrcoat and girlslopex to joined us. Yesterday E and I got a lot of nice cross country skiing in, and today the six of us did some great snow shoeing.
