It's been a year of dentistry

So I went to the dentist today. I thought I would need a root canal on my dodgy tooth but after discussing it, I decided to get it extracted instead.

Cut for the dentist phobic! )

Crikey! Your dentistry over there is no cheaper than ours.

I had the same decision (expensive root canal with no guarantee of success vs. cheaper extraction) and opted for the extraction as well. (It was the last molar on the bottom, not visible.) That was a year or so ago and I think I made the right choice and that you did too, and hope your mouth and surroundings recover soonest.

Theoretically you can get dentistry on the NHS but it's very hard to find a dentist who does NHS patients, so most people go private.

I'm pretty sore today but I'm consoling myself with the thought that after a few days of an aching jaw, it'll not trouble me again. Teeth can really be an almighty bother. Still, I'm glad to be living now and not several hundred years ago when they would have pulled the tooth without any anaesthetic!
