this is the end of the innocence

Why do we waste our ignorant bliss? I was thinking earlier today that life when you're older is that much different than when you were a kid. It's really kinda better. You have more freedom, probably more money so you can get stuff you want. If you worked and had to pay for bills when you were in high school, well you have the same ( Read more... )

just ONCE...ONCE! I'd like to turn on the news and NOT see somebody being killed every two minutes.
The sniper
The kid in Oklahoma
The Russian theatre incident
It's all too much!
No innocence at all here...my eyes are wide open to the evil and pain of the world
and yet it is those golden, pristine moments that we should all strive for and try to remember to get us through the times of trivialness

Mean people suck.

you know how everyone is always looking for the meaning of life?
well, what you talked about is part of it. at least the purpose of life, anyway.

in a nutshell - we can't ignore the bad things. we can't ignore the killings and the hunger and the homeless because thats what we are here to learn from.
if the world was so innocent, what would be the point of us being here? there would be nothing to debate, nothing to form opinions and values and decisions upon.

think about it: imagine the world as you would wish it to be - no cruel people, no violence, no hunger. only happiness. you're with the perfect girl, you have the perfect job, your life is perfect.
but how do you really know? you have no one to prove your mate is the perfect person for you, you can't value her because she's everything that you've always wanted but never had. you can't love her for the things she does that no one else ever did for you ( ... )

That's honestly and truly one of the best things I've heard before. Thanks for saying it.
I totally agree. I just wanted to open up the discussion cause it was a subject I thought of.
But you are absolutely right. I realized back in high school that things weren't working out for me as far as the lovelife was concerned because God wanted me to truly appreciate who I was with. I couldn't explain why he wanted me to appreciate my future wife so much when there are so many people that don't appreciate what's so easily given to them, but I can't complain. I'm alive right? What's really to complain about?
