ALL ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Name: Shelke the Transparent (Formally Shelke Rui)
Game: Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus
Point in Canon: End of DoC right before going to get Vincent.
History/Background:
Wiki Personality: Most of the time Shelke appears to be very vacant in expression. Her voice is monotonic but firm and more often than not she sounds calm and collected; hardly ever raising her voice. Though stuck in the body of her pre-teen self, Shelke is really 19 and thus is mature enough to deal with most things.
While working for the Tsviets, Shelke did her duty without question and was only stopped thanks to Vincent shooting her with a tranquilzer after he defeated her when she tried to kill her sister, Shalua rather than accept her returning to her life and accepting what Shalua had lost in her search to find her. After that Shelke still refused to remain with her sister; still harboring somewhat of a hatred for not being rescued from the torture she endured and until Azul revealed that her termination was ordered, that feeling didn’t leave. Shalua used her prostetic arm (which was also her life support) to save Shelke from Azul and charged Vincent with her care. This woke up Shelke’s feelings for Shalua.
Shelke struggled to understand the sacrifices Shalua had made. She continues to try and understand what her sister did for her and the reason why, while the part of Lucrecia inside her drives her to help Vincent in his missions as well as to help him recover some of his own self-being. When this happens she calls it Data Inferference and often has no control over it or at least she appears that way. She may just allow this to happen rather than try to fight it.
After Shelke was taken from Cid’s airship by Nero and placed in his darkness, she protected herself with shield materia and had a dream or rather, a memory of her crying in front of her mother’s grave. Shalua told her it was alright and not to be sad because their mother had returned to the planet and they would see her again. After that she awoke to find herself crying in which she said, “I didn’t think I had any tears left.” One would assume this meant she hadn’t cried in a very long time and was beginning to get her own emotions back. This becomes more appearant when in her next dream Shalua appears and asks if it’s alright for her to return to the planet as well. Shelke tells her, “Not yet.” It was at this point she accepted her feelings and didn’t want to be alone again.
At the end of the game, Shelke is sent to retrieve Vincent and though Lucrecia still influences her, she has become her own person again realizing that even with Shalua gone, she is not alone.
When dealing with matters that aren’t emotional, Shelke is very bright. She is skilled with computers and other technological devices and can perform Synaptic Net Dives to project a virtual version of herself in places. Though her skills may also be accredited to the part of Lucrecia in her.
First-Person Sample: (This is a log from June of 2010, all of the other responses have been removed.)
Doctor Lucrecia, I have been unable to find Vincent Valentine. Do you know of his whereabouts?
Vincent Valentine and I never kept in good contact with each other... I doubt he would have told me where he was even if he hadn't left town.
[Shelke already knew where she was going with that path of conversation.]
I had planned to use the contest as a chance to talk to him more. About my project and a few others things. Had I won anyway.
You don't need to worry, Doctor Lucrecia. I was only allied with him, nothing more.
You can not let anyone else know about it. Especially the Organization, if they find out they will either take it or destroy it.
I see.
I'm going to hack the town however during it I would need protection, Vincent Valentine.
None of the other Turks would be very concerned about keeping me safe during the hack, I am sure. I guess now though I will have to rely on the others I have told.
So far just Kuja and Kadaj. They are very interested in any information I can find out so I can trust they'll keep me safe until I'm finished. Kefka caught me leaving the library with some reference books but I don't think he really understands what I am doing.
Kadaj is from our world, just thirty-plus years in your future. However, Kadaj is my ally and though he isn't trustworthy, he wants the information so he will not let me get hurt.
Rosso would try to assassinate me quicker than protect me. She is from Deepground, same as I but we are not comrades nor allies.
Third-Person Sample: (This is from the log in Febuary 2010 where Shelke was following Saix. Yes, the infamous MOOSE thread. Saix's responses have been removed.)
From the beginning Shelke felt something was...strange about Saix. Being that the only Organization member she had met so far was him; she obviously didn't have any other "subjects" to study.
The fact that she knew nothing about him was bugging her. Not that she needed to be the person with all the information about people but it had become somewhat of a comfort to her.
So there she was; eyes locked on the bluenette; looking much like this. She wasn't making it a point to hide herself; just that she was out of the way for the most part. But Saix should definitely be feeling a hole being burned in to his head from her wherever he's at.
Shelke watched him; not even bothering to try and hide or move out of his sight when she was spotted. She simply continued to stare. When Saix began to walk again, she followed, her feet carrying her swiftly and nearly completely silently behind him. She never got to close however.
Shelke only fought if she had to defend herself and since she wasn't being attacked, her weapons stayed sheathed.
She watched from outside the store at first from right outside the window but when Saix began moving towards the back of the store she waited a little before entering as well.
Standing close to the entrance, Shelke didn't stop watching him. Her eyes were locked on the man and she didn't seem to get distracted by anything else. As he came towards her she thought he might confront her about her following but he said nothing. She moved out of his way and waited until he left the shop before doing so as well.
She had followed at a decent distance outside the store; though it was a bit closer than she had before that. But when Saix spoke, she knew it would be time to stop following and voice what she was after.
"What are you?" she asked honestly. Beating around the bush was never Shelke's way of doing things. It was better to be honest because that usually yielded more efficient results in the end.
Shelke came closer to him; seeing no point in shouting out their conversation in the streets as it were.
"When we met...there was something strange about you. Where I am from, something strange is a sign of future trouble. I thought by following you I could find something out but it seems you were bothered by this."
"It is every bit my concern with you being someone in charge of the town. I should be allowed the knowledge of what those in power are and what they are capable of," Shelke replied, not in the slightest bit phased by his irritation. In fact, she seemed to be just as blank as she had been when they met. As blank as she always was.
