The wilderness is blank again.

Soul, I have not seen you recently. Are you well?

That is unfortunate. We have had way too many blank days then I care for.

At least one a month since I hatched. I do not find them disturbing, but those who have been here longer do.

They were also already appearing when I was hatched, but according to my father they are very odd for a variety of reasons. I do not like it.

What reasons? All I know is that they are new, and therefore unnerving.

Partly because they are new, but also because they are more frequent. If you remember, there were two entire weeks of blank Wilderness days last month. I was a little worried our Wilderness would never go back to interesting places again.

Also, the blankness in itself is not [a long pause] natural.

[He has a memory, part of his dream. Blankness. Nothing. A sort of twisted goal.]

The Wilderness in itself is not natural.

Maybe, but the places it turns into are sometimes recognizable as our own worlds. They are real. But the blankness...

[Pause, a longer one than normal.]

What if the blankness is just between worlds? What if the Wilderness is just taking more time to switch?

That is a possibility. And a nicer one to think about than maybe the Tree dy

I wonder if this mean the Tree is tired? Do you think I should try watering it?

[A horrible jagged penline.

And then an attempt to match it on the other side of the page.

... yeah okay Seven you are a freak.]

I doubt there is anything we could do to help the Tree.

What is that? [Spring is oblivious to Seven's quirks.]

But we should still try!

I marred the page. I had to fix it.

We do not want to accidentally hurt the tree more.

I see.

I will not hurt it! Watering should only produce good results if any!

It already has all the water it needs, and more.

I must do something!
