It's weird... He doesn't viciously bite when you speak to him in French. He seems to enjoy the timbre and sound of the language. I have already taught him to say "Allo!...D'accord!" (which means hello...ok!, a mimic of what I often say on the phone to the francophones or my students, whom I call often). He is really a special little guy. He's starting to enter the "babble" stage, just like a human baby would. I can't wait until he learns to talk. I'm so curious to see what happens. I have also directed Chris to speak nothing but English to every bird to see what happens. Should be really interesting.
Tibbie is far more trouble than you will ever be, because you're civil, and she's a sweet but rotten bird. Tibbie is a pirate. She eats books. She's a flying rat (She flies in circles because she cannot see well).
Tibbie is a collaborator, deftly climbing my tour d'eiffel lamp and responding with more affection to German and English than to her baby-tongue of French, biting holes in my hands when she hears it.
Tibbie cannot possibly be smarter than you; maybe sneakier and a better climber, but never smarter. I defy her to write a poem more powerful or evocative than yours.
That wasn't much of a rebuttal. You say I'm civil, and point out my inability to fly in circles and climb lamps--I'll have you know I can in fact climb any lamp I please--with only a passing note on poetry. If poetry defined intellect to our society, imagine the political landscape. The lymeric party vs the haikus. It would be lovely.
Ah, also, I can eat books, and your hand too, if I really wanted.
