bsg_aussiegirl wanted as a challenge entry "something imaginative I haven't thought of." So I wrote her this little NC drabble based on the song "Reject your shame" by the UK band
SkinjoB.

Baltar had banned him from New Caprica. It was Saul who told him Laura had pneumonia. A few days in the medical tent and some drugs and she'd be fine, only treatment was reserved for essential workers and a schoolteacher was not on the list. Bill loaded a raptor and snuck onto the planet, assuming that Baltar's watchdogs were as incompetent as their boss.
Laura was in bed when he stepped in to her tent. "I hope you're a hallucination," she said.
"Nice way to greet your doctor."
"I knew you had a lot of free time. Didn't know you'd gone back to school."
"I've brought an apple for the teacher." He reached into his flight suit and handed her a vial of pills.
"There are people who need this more than me." Laura tried to sit up but sunk back to the bed in a fit of coughing.
"Some people might need the medicine, but they all need you." He waited while she thought it over, and then brought her a cup of water and shook out a pill. "I've brought something else."
"A book?"
"Better."
"What could be better than a book?"
"I've brought guns."
"That's better than a book?"
"I know you've been organizing politically, you and my crew. But you can't hold out until elections. Three years, there'll be nothing left of humanity but a faint trace of smoke. We won't survive another winter like this. We knew we'd have to fight, always thought it'd be Cylons. It'll have to be Baltar."
"But not with guns."
"With guns, with fists, with words. With whatever it takes. It's time to choose a side, Laura -- the people or humanity."
"What side have you chosen, Bill?"
"The same side I chose the day the Colonies were nuked. Yours."
