Holy Cow! Can’t believe we’re already looking’ at the butt end of September…. WTF?????
It’s been so busy that I haven’t really had a chance to post anything in a couple of weeks.
Well the boys have settled in nicely to the routine of school. It’s busy but it’s really nice to have a few hours every day to myself. I’ve been crazy busy though.
I’m trying to make sure that I set aside 60 minutes every morning to work out and then try to get chores done. By the time that’s all said and done I find myself standing at the bus stop cuz the boys are coming home.
NOT a complaint, BTW.
Here’s an example of a typical day this month… bear in mind that once the snow comes all bets are off!
This was yesterday:
8:30 am - put the boys on the bus
8:35 - left for a run
9:30 am - limped home…. Dead tired. - I’m a wimp.. and a very Sloooowwwww runner - then had a little something for breakfast
10:00- Vacuumed the house and washed the floors. Did some other chores around the house to clean up.
11:30 - Hit the shower
12:10 - Went out to meet the boys
By the time they got settled in and changed out of their school clothes it was close to 12:30 … had lunch, then cleaned up after lunch while they played.
1:30 - Set off for a bike ride.
- There’s a bike path just down the road from our place but we’ve never used it before. We live in a quiet area so I’ve always just taken them around our neighborhood instead. Well yesterday I decided to take them on the bike path for a change of pace. So we loaded the bikes into the car (it’s not too far to ride but the road to the bike path is VERY busy and VERY dangerous … I’d never let my kids ride on that road… not even as teenagers.) and off we went.
2:30 - Set out on the bike trail. We rode for about 40 minutes till we found a nice grassy area along the trail
3:15 ish…. Set up a picnic blanket and had a little snack. Then we read a story… yes I actually brought a book with us.
3:45 - Rode back to the car and headed off for home.
By the time all that was said and done it was rush rush rush, into the house, make dinner, and…….
That’s a typical day in my world. BUSY, but fun, and nice.
Oh yeah, then once I put the boys in bed I made a batch of mustard pickles with all the cucumbers I got from the garden.

The boys are doing awesome in their swimming lessons. They both LOVE it. It’s amazing to see the progress they are making now that they have structured lessons. Makes me regret not having them in lessons all summer as well.
Drew - my 3 year old (almost 4), jumped off the diving board too! OMG, I was so proud of him. Owen and I were sitting in the stands watching him and chanting… Drew Drew Drew Drew…. Then when he jumped we started hooting and hollering… I think we looked like a couple of fools but we didn’t care. The look on Drew’s face was priceless… he was beaming!

Hockey is coming along nicely as well. Owen is getting much steadier on his feet which is giving him much MUCH more confidence.
Saturday, however, was a total FAIL on my part. Thank God I have a really mild tempered, sweet husband… yeah yeah yeah, I know, I’m sickening sometimes. But really! Here’s the scoop.
It started off Friday night when I told my husband that they were scheduled to be on the ice for 7 am Saturday morning. My poor hubby, he’s such a good Dad. He hates getting up early. HATES IT. In fact, I’m sure there are times where he’d gladly trade one of the kids or even me for “Just Five More Minutes”.
But he’s doing the hockey thing with Owen and has to get up early every weekend from now till… like March! Anyway, he got up at 5:45 am…. Got ready, then woke Owen up. They left at around 6:20 am… 6:50 am, the phone rings. It’s hubby.
Hubby: “Ummm can you please check the schedule and confirm that Owen’s on the ice at 7:00 am?”
Me… while looking at calendar: “Oh FUCK! Babe! I’m so sorry. It’s 8:00 am, not 7:00 am.”
Hubby: Chuckles….
Me: “Honey, I’m so sorry.”
Hubby: “That’s okay baby, we’ll just go over to Tim Horton’s for some timbits to kill some time.”
…. It gets better……
Then Drew and I head over to meet them at the rink at around 8:30 ish… reason being that Drew was scheduled to start his skating lessons at 9:45 am at a different location. Since Hubby didn’t want to miss his first skating lesson we figured we’d meet at Owen’s arena, then take one car and we’d all go to the skating… different arena.. (Yes I know, NUTS)
Anyway, we get there… Hubby gets Drew ready, the kid is standing there in his little helmet and skates… totally excited to start skating, then the skating club manager tells me that they have him registered for the 1:00 pm session, not the 9:45…. WHAT!!!!!!!??????
And NO they can’t let him on the ice because they already have the max amount of kids and there’s the insurance liability… blah blah blah… anyway, poor Drew. He was a little upset that we took off his skates and helmet cuz he didn’t really understand that he was still gonna skate, just a little later (don’t forget he’s only three…. Well, ALMOST four)
Anyway, I felt so bad. I’m near tears cuz I’m so upset with myself, and Hubby just gives me a little squeeze, plants a kiss to the top of my head and says “No worries, babe, we’ll just go for breakfast to kill a little time”
My thoughts at this point. And I’m NOT kidding, I’m sharing the honest truth… this is what goes through my head when he kissed me and said that. “Ohhhhh, tonight I am going to give you the best blow job you’ve ever had!”
Of course what I said out loud was “Thanks babe!”
- Drew did awesome at skating when we went back at 1:00

Anyway, this post is getting super long… AGAIN.... and LJ is being a real bitch to format this morning... I HATE that!
I’ve started volunteering in Owen’s class every Monday. I’ll be starting in Drew’s class next month…. CAN’T WAIT.

Princess Update: She’s holding her own right now. She hasn’t gotten any worse, but she’s not getting better either. We’ve had a couple of accidents in the house but they are not frequent so that’s good. She’s tired. She sleeps a lot.

Well that’s it for now folks. There’s probably lots more but really…. This post is already more like a short novel
