Looking at Dog Breeds

Yep, you read that right.  We're starting to think about what kind of dog we want to get.  I figured we should start looking now because if we want a dog in the spring we should probably start interviewing breeders now.  Most top breeders have wait lists for people who want to get puppies from them.  I won't get a dog from a pet store because there ( Read more... )

If it can be punted....  then it's not a dog IMHO.

I’m just gonna pretend I didn’t see that whole ‘punted’ comment and move on. LOL.

I have a friend who had a St. Bernard for a short period time and she was the nicest, most gentle dog I’ve ever seen. I got my Boston Terrier at about the same time as she got the Bernard so they played together a lot as puppies. Where my BT was (and still is) an aggressive little dog on crack, the Bernard was very patient with her and never hurt her (even when my dog was hanging from her throat). So, if the Bernard could handle my dog, I think they would be very good with young children.

Oh yeah... I love St. Bernards. My only issue is all the drool. But they are one of the breeds on my list.

Actually, I've got a list of Breeds that I really like and what I'm hoping for is that the Humane Society will come up with a mutt that just happens to be a mix with a little bit of two or more on my list..... yes yes I know, I'm dreaming.

Hey. I meant to comment on this sooner cuz I will ALWAYS endorse huskies. I love my Husky, even at the times when she seems more trouble than she's worth running away at inconvenient times. Also long as your backyard is fenced in so they have space to run. Or take them for runs (which I love to do) And huskies love children. they will protect them and be gentle with them and be the happiest with them. They are the sweetest, funniest, most talkive dogs you will ever come across. Not to mention fuzzy and cuddly.

I may be taking my missing my dog emotions out on you right now though.

Dane...definitely a Dane...with uncropped ears. Fawn, Blue, Harlequin or Mantle!

No...I have NO opinions! :D
