Resolution and writing

Jan 13, 2009 21:59

This year's new years resolution:

Three NEW stories totaling at least 6000 words to fiction press.

One down (2500 words as well), two to go.

This is my post here. So, yeah, check it out. It's a sequel, like it says, so if you haven't read the first part, go and read it.

Heh. Writing a bitch is fun and liberating. Not that she's been my favorite character to write... that would be Paula from Pretty in Pink.

But, there's more coming for the shovel story. I figured, I got him that far, let's go ahead and embrace the dark side. See if I can't scare the girly a bit.

I'm going to read when I get the chance. Good resolution, I should have probably made one of those. Bah, it's better when I don't commit myself with my writing, I usually end up bitterly disappointed in myself.

Having said that, there has been tonnes of progress there. Some of which I'll be posting on my end in the near future.

Getting back to topic, I'm a fan of your stuff so I'm looking forward to it.

Well, I made myself a similar resolution last year, but it kinda blew up for me... it took months to finally get Pretty in Pink wrapped up to the point where I got it posted, then I got a shortened version of the fourth chapter of Bard's (that just seems too damn short in spite of the 2,000+ word count).

This year has already started out a bit more promising.

My current project has me expanding on PiP a bit. A re-telling from Paula's perspective, with more of a "how I got from here to there" going. Once again, something you inspired me to write... Should have that up by Valentine's Day, if not sooner.

And what of Bard's?
When can I be expecting a shiny new chapter?

A re-telling from Paula's perspective, with more of a "how I got from here to there" going. Once again, something you inspired me to write...
Further explanation required. How and what exactly did I inspire? Was it something I said in a review?

Ugh... chapter five is... somewhere down th line this year. It's kinda going to depend on how soon I can stand to go through what the characters need to (in writing) and how hard it is for me to translate that experience. I'm sure it'll all make it out okay once I get going, but it's not something at the forefront right now.

And, yeah, something you said in a review...

I think you could get away with leaving some of your others as one shots but this would benefit from having some additional chapters. Character-wise, they’re just kinda…I don’t know. I’m not really endeared to either of them yet.

So, yeah. Working on endearing. To some degree or another.
