Gla! I am a doctor you trust! Although I have very little to do with your health and indeed is just your sister.
I love your thanking posts. They are so lovely. This lavendar goat cheese things sounds super intriguing, but borderline illiteracy does not.
I'm off to read 2 million fellowship application recommendation letters. They are not illiterate but they blend in annoyingly with all of the "excellent", "outstanding",...etc.etc.
Ooh, any more tips for when I write recommendation letters for my students? I'm always wondering how to help them best. I try to give specific examples of how they stand out from their classmates, ways that they demonstrate the characteristics that I'm adjective-ing.
I don't know if our trade applies to other students. When people are applying for medicine residency or fellowship programs, we look for "key word" since it is a secret code that most programs have agreed upon to describe how good the applicant is. For example, we assign different point value to "amongst the best in my career", "top 5% of the class", followed by "outstanding"...etc. I'm usually just scanning the letter to find these key words.
I don't often comment, but I really enjoy your posts when I read framefolly's blog! Thanks!
