Even though I've spent years in this state by now, I remain surprised by how hard it is for me to sit still and finish something. I used to have extraordinary willpower -- it went away some time during graduate school. So now I sit and look at the last 16 short answer responses I need to grade and go, "Ugh! ::hugs you::

I'm not sure that I ever did have extraordinary willpower, but I do know what you mean. I'm actually almost looking forward to having surgery at the end of the month-- I have to take three weeks off work!

Surgery! I've been out of it -- what's going on? I hope that it's not a dangerous procedure!

I have a large thyroid mass-- benign, but it needs to come out. Should be more annoying than dangerous I hope!

Grading was a hard part of the work at the time of my teaching. I hope you succeeded without being too tired.::hugs::

I'm grateful to Mozart's requiem, too.

You know, I think that we all have a finite amount of focus/patience, and that grad school (and law school!) saps us of that faster than anything else. It's much harder for me to focus these days, too.

And yes! I never think about that, but nail clippers are something to be thankful for.

I wish that we came with user's manuals, so that I could operate myself better!

I'm just so glad that people design this stuff, you know? Before nail clippers they must have used little scissors and files, which just doesn't sound nearly as easy. And what did people do -- for all sorts of things -- before scissors?! It's so clever to fit two knives together with a hinge and handles on the other side...

My mind is strange...
