So I was looking forward to this show, because I love greek mythology. After seeing episode 1, I'm very disappointed.
What a pile of crap. I think I hated it.
The connection with our modern age at the beginning was completely unnecessary.
And I hate the arbitrary way in which they combined all the different myths in a way that doesn't make sense, and getting absolutely nothing right or faithful to the real legends.
Why start the tale with the Minotaur/Minos/Ariadne myth, which is notoriously set in Crete, and set it instead in the lost city of Atlantis, which has nothing to do with it? Jason says "I'm in ancient Greece", no you aren't, Atlantis is supposed to be in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, beyond the Pillars of Hercules....
And Jason has nothing to do with the minotaur ... it's Theseus who kills it! Moreover, they introduced Ariadne, but didn't include her among the people who were going to be sacrificed to the monster, which is the only thing she's famous for...
Not to speak of how random the inclusion of Pitagoras is, and how pathetic they made Hercules...
What a freaking mess. I don't expect a tv adaptation to be 100% faithful in every detail but is it so difficult/impossible to respect the legends in general, maintaining the main plots/characters/connections?? I don't understand these showrunners at all (well, I should have known better...I've seen Merlin, afterall!). Greek mythology is such an endless source of tales as it is...way to go and make an absolute mess for no reason.
Pass.
