Aww. That happens to everyone, unfortunately. I've pretty much only lost contact with my online people. At first I got rather upset over it, then I realized that life goes on. I'm going to be losing contact with people pretty soon, but I'm actually okay with it.
I hope your people come back to you, and there's nothing wrong with contacting them first.
