I've enjoyed almost every episode of Cowboy Bebop and thought Grave of the Fireflies was well done. Other than those, I have yet to enjoy much of anything in the "anime genre" (and yes I realize that to some that is a wide category to be placing such stuff within).
I just find it very hard to identify with a lot of his films. I absolutely love Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle, which are obviously easy for me to identify with older female leads. Ponyo looks cute, but I doubt it will be one of those films I constantly want to pull off the shelf and watch all the time.
i love his films, but i do feel like he's lost steam in recent years and run out of ideas. i don't understand ponyo-- isn't it just the little mermaid all over again, in essence?
spirited away was great. lots of personable characters and cute moments that are typical of miyazaki. i also like how he tends to have strong female leads.

I didn't really care all that much for spirited away. 8|
Yeah, I went there.

Oh. Princess Mononoke was good too, but it just wasn't as endearing as Howl's or Kiki's.
