Caught between Barrack and a Hard Place

First off, I saw today that piracy is alive and well off the coast of Somalia. The Pastafarian in me is glad to see them combatting global warming so vigourously, but at the same time, I hope everything turns out well for all involved.

And I have had a couple of people asking me about my run-in with Obama. It's really not that big a story, but I thought it was amusing.

You need to understand, the building I work in houses several large law firms and other companies in it. We see limos pull in on occasion, and several small-time dignitaries show up randomly.

About a year and a half ago, when there were just starting to be rumors that Obama was going to run for president, I was downstairs on smoke break and noticed the place was crawling with guys in black suits and ear pieces. A couple even had the prerequisite sunglasses, which I found amusing. I didn't think a lot of it as I went outside to the dock and had a cigarette. There was a black town car parked by the dock, with two guys in suits leaning against it, but again, I didn't really think much of it.

Finished my cig, turned around and started to head back towards my office when I noticed several guys come out of the door to my left and look around. I'm watching them, not really looking where I am going. . . and I smack into a tall blue suit coming out of the door I was going into.

He drops some papers, I step all over his shoes and nearly knock him down in the process. Several of the guys with earbuds are surrounding me and looking slightly menacing as I am profusely apologizing to a laughing Barrack Obama.

He was ushered away by the men in black before I really knew what was going on, but he was very nice about the whole thing. I just stood there gaping when I realized I'd just stepped on the future president of the United States.

So yeah. My not-so-subtle brush with greatness was just as clumsy as I figured it would be.

Hope y'all are doing well. :-)
