Okay...so here's the thing. I got the job offer. She sounded like she new that it wasn't a lot of money and told me that in November of this year they will be doing the budget for next year. That also coincides with the ending of my probationary period if I were to take the position and they could put in for a raise at that time. Can you ( Read more... )

I feel like once I chose a pronoun it will be final. And that's really scary to a pronoun switch. Still not sure what I"ll do, but thanks for the advice!

Wow. mm. I think you should just think about what your preference is. Just because you choose he vs. she does not mean that has to be a final choice. I would go with he..and if people say anything you can always say..either one is fine. Logistically, if you think that at some point you may want to go by he, this would be a good time to start. I always wish that I had come into my current job using male pronouns. It made the switch much harder once everyone was used to calling me she. Whatever you decide it sounds like you'll have support from this person which is great!! Congrats on the job offer.

hmmmm....it sounds easy enough but really isn't. i don't go by either pronoun so neither feels right to me. i like having some people call me he and i'm used to some people calling me she. i guess i'm afraid that if i go by he all the time then i'll be "found out" or have to do way too much educating than I am really in the mood for. but mel made the point that some people would be just as confused if i went by "she." so...i have no idea what to do!

actually a nice position to be in. which do you want? you have an opportunity to try he without the legal change and have the support of work from the get go. Yes, you will pass far more in Toronto.

Hello darlin. It feels hard to give advice about this because it is such a personal thing. But I hope that you figure out what works best for you and that it all goes well for you. It is so fascinating to hear about how well you are passing in Toronto. I love you and miss you!
