Because I think there's a credible documentary to be made about health care in the US, and Michael Moore fudged it again by not being remotely objective, obscuring some facts and twisting others, and focusing the major part of his movie on human interest stories rather than hard facts.
I haven't liked a Michael Moore movie since Roger and Me, I don't think. The one thing I can say for Sicko was at least he stayed off camera for a portion of the running time.
I could write an entry about all the cast albums that I've first heard this year and loved, but who would want to read that?
I would!
I'm another one who finds it difficult to answer music questions that presuppose a knowledge of current pop songs or a love of rock bands. I do listen to some folk-rock (i.e. Indigo Girls, Girlyman, etc.) and Ella Fitzgerald. But mostly I listen to cast albums.
ooo you make me so happy down in my soul because you love what i love :) I hope you like Atonement. In my opinion that and La Vie en Rose were absolutly by far the best movies of the year. (p.s you should see that...La vie en rose) I'm still trying to undetstand why people loved "juno" so much....
p.s i still have things of yours from the breakup. want me to ship them to you ?
No I don't want you to ship them to me cause we didn't break up. This is just a trial separation. We'll be together again soon. Actually, I'm in Michigan the last weekend of this month - I'd love to see you then!
I liked a lot of Juno, especially Jenn Garner, whom I don't normally like. But far too often, it substituted wit and pop culture for actual truth and real emotion. Still worth seeing, I think, especially for parents.
Mark, if I were to start watching one new TV show in 2008, what would you recommend? (except, since I've already seen them either in their entirety or enough of to have gotten a good impression of them: Veronica Mars, The Office, House, Bones, and Heroes.) I trust your taste, and I need something to balance the trashy goodness that is Gossip Girl (please don't hold that last part against me). Plus, whatever you name, there's a 95% chance there's a LiveJournal community where I can download it, woohoo.
I really want to see Juno and I'm Not There. Everyone I know who's seen the latter has raved about it.
