I thought I'd get on lj and see the whole interwebs buzzing about the new My Fair Lady film, to be made with Keira Knightley. But no one's posted about it! Am I the only person excited? Well, me, and a bunch of really old people ( Read more... )

I had no idea there was going to be a new MFL! Can Keira Knightley sing? Because if she can, that sounds pretty much perfect. And Hugh Laurie as Higgins would be pretty much the best thing ever. :)

You can hear her sing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtAE5NadZSA

She sounds pretty good, I think. You'd want a more natural sounding Eliza for the film. Apparently she's quite keen to do it.

You're kidding.
I hadn't heard about this either. Please tell me that it's still going to be a musical... and I hope the actors do their own singing. And i hope they're competent singers. Ah, almost feel like i'd be better off for me if it just didn't happen, since now i'm going to have such high expectations for the film.

Oh, it's definitely still going to be a musical. They're going to use the entire score and use the book with some additions from Pygmalion.

Here's the article: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/118417.html

I'm really not too worried about this movie. If it's great, terrific! If it's mediocre, well, it's still My Fair Lady. If it's terrible, at least we have one decent movie of the show.

Don't get Liz started on Keira Knightley! She will go on and on about how much she despises Keira on every imaginable level. She said, and I quote, "If I saw her in the street, I would probably spit on her."

A while back my roommate and I had the best idea ever for a new musical reality show. It'd be to cast Eliza in My Fair Lady (with Tim Gunn as Higgins), and the kiss-off line would be "I'm sorry Lisa, we can't grow accustomed to your face."

Oh. My. Goodness!

That sounds like a wonderful idea, and now that I know about it, I'm excited! Hugh Laurie as Higgins would be perfect.
