Random thoughts that needs a defrag.

I saw an ad today on the TV which used the 'Matrix'-like freeze of motion and rotation creating a 3D moment in time, this got me to think about el cheapo ways to replicate that for some reasons, the fruits of which are as follows ( Read more... )

well, el franko, that is sort of how they do it anyway - i saw it in a documentary once! they have this really big arc of cameras that all shoot at the same time and then to produce el-matixo effect, you play the fottage in some way that i don't know... but you probably knew that anyway :o)

Yeah, I am just stipulating that it could also be done on a Unistudentbudget and not Hollywoodollarspendathon :)

I wonder when we will start having movie stars that are totally electronic. Sure there's Nemo, but I mean in now cartoon roles, maybe doing Drama or the Thriller genres.

there's a really clever ad on tv about, I dunno, hewlett packard or something. But everyone has frames that turn into pictures of themselves and it's got a cute little song playing.. and ... and...

well, you have to see it to understand. (but it's very very clever.)

That's really smart that one, *sigh* all these great artists focussing their efforts to create a marketing illusion, better spent on art maybe... Perhaps it is art, controversial.

I like the ad for Crown Lager that uses 'bullet-time' photography (I am assuming this is the one you're referring to)...the tag line is something about how you don't choose moments to celebrate, they choose you. I think it's a really appealing set of visuals - there's a wedding, a game of beach volleyball, friends in a pub, etc. It also has a nice piano bit behind it. It's a shame that it's a subversive attempt to sell beer.

In making animated Lego videos, we have tried and failed to replicate the effect with a digital video camera - essentially, you need to either do as you say, and set up a rig of cameras that all fire together, or find a way to mount a video camera onto some kind of mechanism that follows a certain path at really, really fast speed (because then you can slow it down to achieve the slo-mo 3D effect).

And I've thought too much about this.

You've got it, that's the ad I am speaking of, a real shame indeed but as marketing grows in years and hype as does the people's expectation of hype.

Some believe in the symbolic value of the good being purchased by them, others automatically downgrade the product from the sterioded position to compensate; all this leading to companies using more ways to manipulate the general public!

Anyways to sum up... Marketing bad, beer is good... hey wait... I have succumbed...
