Remembering back to when I was a kid, I seem to recall one of the more significant lessons taught: do not be a sore loser. I also recall another lesson: if you go off by yourself and sulk, you do no one any significant harm, other then yourself. Both were lessons in that whole collective experience that is "growing up". I do believe you are right sir! I do look at your statement of "everyone has a voice" with a bit of irony, does the looser have the voice to throw a temper tantrum? Put to your logic, that is just good ol' democracy that we live with.

The thing is however, it is not irony if what people say with their voice is essentially "I did not get my way so I am taking my ball and going home now". Speaking out is not really the problem here; its the people that think they are entitled to some sort of special exemption from the principles of democracy because of their ability to throw childish temper tantrums that I think lack some class. And there is, unfortunately, no irony to be found in that either.

Irony would be if they had their 15 minutes or whatever of fame, said their piece (however intemperant or uncalled for that piece may be), and then got back to the reality of productive contribution to the democratic aspects of citizenship in this country. Unfortunately, we are burdened with all too little irony in practice, in this regard...
