A/N: Nothing special. Just Castiel and Dean... On a bed... In the dark...
Dean stared at the dark silence of the room; one hand under his head and the other playing with the amulet on his neck. “Cas, do you see my mom when you’re up at Heaven?” He waited for a second before he lifted himself up with his elbow, turned his body towards Castiel and waited for his reply. Castiel’s head made an outline that Dean saw with the faint lighting in the room. Castiel stared up at the ceiling.
“Heaven for human souls are far different from the realm of angels,” Castiel turned his head to face Dean. “But I can visit her for you if you’d like me to.” Castiel watched Dean and noticed his upper lip twitch. “It’s not a bother, Dean and I’m sure she’d like to know how you and Sam are.” Dean smiled and then Castiel placed his hand on Dean’s cheek. “Go to sleep, Dean,” the angel watched as Dean went back to his original position where his hand was tucked under his head.
Dean sighed as he looked up at the ceiling. “Can’t sleep,” he looked at Castiel, his blue eyes watching him. “You’re here.”
Castiel shot upright and his body slightly turned towards Dean. “I should go so you can slumber peacefully.” Dean placed his hand on the angel’s arm and tugged on it lightly.
“No. I want you to stay,” Dean tugged on Castiel’s trench coat again.
“I’ll only go if you ask me to leave,” Castiel laid back down after Dean’s fifth tug on his sleeves. His hand intertwined with Dean’s and they laid in silence. “I’ll tell you when Heaven calls me.” Castiel’s thumb brushed against Dean’s knuckles and tapped on it twice when Dean tightened his grip on Castiel’s hand.
“I feel better when you’re here. No nightmares either,” Dean chuckled softly and scooted closer to Castiel. His chin pressed on Castiel’s shoulder and he placed their hands on his lap to close the gap between them. They didn’t speak and Dean’s eyes soon fluttered to shut. Even if his eyes were closed, his brain was still racing and his heart raced as he felt Castiel’s thumb brush against his knuckled softly.
He kept scooting closer until their bodies completely joined and there was no space between them. Castiel turned his head to kiss Dean’s forehead and his lips lingered on his skin and Dean felt him whisper, “..I love you…”
