Lex walked into the bar a little unsure and it wasn't propper of himself. He was so self confident. And the talk with Lucas had went so well and easily. But Lucas had warned him that Madison, Lucas twin, his *sister* would be the hard part.
He looked around and saw her at the bar. Long brown her, blue eyes, tight black t-shirt and tight jeans. She was laughing at something a waitress had said and preparing some drinks. She wasn't even legal to drink and she was working as a barwoman. "She lied about her age" Lucas had said as if was the most natural thing on the world. And maybe for the twins it was.
He walked to the bar and she looked at him, no sign of recognition. Lex felt a bit nervous. And if she didn't know who he was? Impossible. And that wasn't his ego talking. Lucas had recognized him right away and had told him to "fuck off" with greeting to Lionel.
So, she knew who he was, but she was pretending not to know him. Well, two could play that game. Lex sat at the bar and took one of the menu's. Eventually, she came to stop in front of him.
"Hi, what would you like to drink tonight?" she asked. Her voice was soft and nice. Just as Lucas had said it would be.
"Jack Daniels, please. No ice, no water," he said. She nodded.
"Right away." She smiled a blinding smile at him and turned away. She came back with the drink and a napkin. She put it down with a little more strenght that needed and that gave her away, she knew. But Lex pretended not to notice.
"There you go. Would you like something to eat?" she asked.
"No thanks, Madison," he said and she froze. But she was literally saved by the bell.
"Mad! What about those pina coladas?!"
"Coming!" she yelled over her shoulder, gave Lex an apologetic look and walked away. She didn't come near him again until his glass was empty. She asked if he wanted a refill, Lex only nodded. Thank god he had a high alcohol resistence, because he realized he would have to wait until she was off to have the talk with her.
So he did. He drank his drinks slowly and nodded when Madison asked if he wanted refill. He paid with cash when the owner informed him they were closing and left a generous tip. He waited outside, by his car. She didn't even look at her and walked past him so quickly, that by the time that Lex had go out to the street, there was no one to be seen. He went back to his car, with the intention to drove to the twins place and wait for Madison there, when he saw her walking to take a bus.
He stopped the car and yelled. "Madison Luthor!!"
She turned around and glared. But didn't answer and kept walking. Lex got down the car and ran after her. He got to her and grabbed her arm. She turned around with a dangerous look on her face and Lex let her go. He realized that for a minute there, he had been in danger.
"Madison, wait. I need to talk to you. I am..."
"I know who you are. I don't want to talk to you," she said bluntly.
"You don't understand. I'm your..."
"I know," she stated. Lex blinked. Of course she knew. Lucas also knew
"Why don't we go somewhere else we can talk?"
"Are you mental or something? *I* don't want to talk to you. Now, if you excuse me, it's late and I'm tired, I wanna go home," she said. Lex almost sighed with exhasperation.
"Wait. Please. Hear me out. Lucas did," he said.
"You talked to Lucas?" And that seemed the wrong thing to said, because now Madison Luthor was, well, *mad*. She turned around, pulled her cellphone and dialed, completely ignoring Lex. Lex wasn't used to be ignored.
"Lucas? I know what time is it. Lex Luthor is standing in front of me and he's saying he talked to you. Please tell me he's bullshitting me," she said into the phone.
"Lucas!! What the fuck?! We agreed!" she yelled. Lex made a face.
"No, I'm not talking to him. No! What? Sure, sure. And Santa exists. Lucas, just how stupid do you are?" She was beyond furious. But then after a few moments of cursing, she was quiet. She hummed and agreed to something. She hung up the phone and turned around.
"You have five minutes. So this better be good," she said. Lex thanked Lucas and made a mental note of buying him a porsche first thing on monday.
"I found out my father had Lucas and you five months ago. I hired a private investigator to find you. It wasn't easy because you make a good job of hiding yourselfs. As soon as the investigator told me they had found you, I took my car and came down to Edge City. I talked to Lucas first, but my intention was to talk to both of you together. I didn't know you had two jobs."
"Lousy investigator," Madison commented, really pissed off. Lex could swear there was smoke comming out of her ears.
"Yeah. Anyway, what I told Lucas, and what I'm telling you, is the same. I always wanted a family. And now I discover that I have a brother and a sister. You guys have rights and I want to help..."
He was rudely interrupted because Madison laughed. And then stopped so suddenly that it was creppy.
"You pretend me to believe the family shit? Lucas believed this shit? I can't believe this! What do you really want from us? Because you didn't come all the way down to Edge City to share your money with your poor relatives. So, tell me Lex, what the fuck do you want from us?" And she checked her watch. Lex swallowed and had to decide quickly.
"I need help," he said. "My father is making me became in something I really don't want to and I need help. Now, the fight is only one against one. But, you are legal heirs too. If you come with me, the fight would be 3 against 1. We could force my father... our father to retire, to leave the fight, to leave me alone,"
"He's never going to leave you alone, Lex, you *do* realize that, don't you?" Madison asked.
"But he won't have the means to fuck up my life. I know is a lot to ask. But it's what it's legally yours too. And I do want a family. I wasn't lying about that," Lex said. Madison looked at him for a while and then sighed.
"Take me home. We'll tell Lucas this and then, Lucas and I will decide," Madison said.
