Part OnePart ThreePart Four "Lucas?" Madison called as soon as she opened the door of the small apartment.
"Maddie! Sis!" Lucas greeted. He was wearing boxers and a t-shirt.
"Don't you 'Maddie' me, bastard. You should have warned me. Lucas, we had an agreement," Madison said angrily.
"Mad, this is different. Oh, hi, Lex!" he greeted, smiling, a bit relieved to see Lex there.
"Hi, Lucas," Lex said, feeling guilty. He should have been honest with Lucas since the beginning. Now there was a good chance that he would go back home with his hands empty. No brother, no sister.
"It's not different, Lucas. He lied to you about the real motives he had to come looking for us. And, honestly Lucas? I *am* a bit surprised you couldn't see through all the happy family shit," Madison said. Lucas looked confused and hurt. His gaze danced between his sister and Lex for a moment and he finally said.
"Lex?"
Lex swallowed hard and shook his head. "It wasn't a lie. It was all true. But Madison is right, there are other motives too that I didn't told you about..."
Lucas shook his head, unbelieving. "You lied to me, I went against my sister, who's all that I have in my life and you lied to me. Madison is right. I was so fucking stupid. I think you should leave now..." And Lucas walked to the door.
"Lucas. Please. I can explain. Hear me out, would you? Please." He was begging and a voice in his head that sounded to much like Lionel told him that Luthors didn't beg, but Lex told that voice to fuck off and focused on Lucas, willing him to give him a second chance.
"Why?" Lucas asked simply.
"Because we're brothers. Just for that. If you don't like what I have to say, I'll leave and you'll never hear from again. I swear," Lex said. Lucas looked at Madison, who sighed and shrugged. Only then he nodded and crossed his arms over his chest.
And for the first time in his life, in a small apartment in edge city, in front of his half brother and half sister, Lex was completely honest. He told the twins about Lionel and how he was screwing his life. Abput the mind games. About the falling to the dark side, how afraid he was. How much he wanted to stop Lionel. He told them about Smallville, Clark, the meteor mutants and the experiments Lionel wanted to do. About Level 3. Of how much he wanted to do them too and how much that scared him. About the need to stop Lionel.
"I need your help," he finished honestly.
Madison sighed again and turned to Lucas. "Go get dressed, we are going out to discuss this," she said. Lucas just nodded.
"Without a word to Lex, Madison pulled a Jack Daniels bottle from the small kitchen and a glass, and placed it in front of Lex.
"Have a drink. You look like you need it. We may take a while, so sit down and watch TV or something..." she said.
"Thank you, Madison," Lex answered. Madison nodded. Lucas came back, helped Madison with her jacket and without a word to Lex the twins left.
Lex was left alone to watch crappy tv - not cable tv for the twins - for almost an hour. He was falling asleep when he heard the key on the keyhole and stood up to face the twins, and his destiny.
The twins walked into the apartment and Lex expected Madison to talk, but it was Lucas the one who opened his mouth.
"Okay," he said.
"Okay?" Lex repeated, not understanding.
"Yes. We are coming with you. Pulling that shit you said on Lionel. But you have to stay honest and clear with us. First thing we suspect you're not being honest, and you won't hear a word from us, ever again. Deal?" Lucas asked. Lex nodded eagerly.
"Deal," he said. Seemed fair enough.
"Okay then, Madison needs a few days to quit her jobs, pay up rent, pack stuff..." Lucas started, but Lex interrupted him.
"I'll get someone to pay up the rent, submit the resignation letters and pack the stuff here," he said. Lucas looked shocked for a moment and Madison muttered 'I told you'. Lex swallowed.
"Well, if you want..." he said. He didn't want to impose himself...
"It's okay, Lex. We'll do it your way. Let's us pack our clothes and we'll be all set," Madison said, speaking at last.
