"I'm not wearing that," Madison said for the fifth time since they had arrived to the elegant store. Lucas rolled his eyes and Lex stopped himself from sighing just in time.

"Mad, stop it, would you?" Lucas said. Madison glared.

"I don't like dresses. I don't see what's wrong with my clothes..." she started again. Lucas, thankfully for Lex's ears, lost his patience, grabbed his sister's arm and pulled her away. He could see them fighting. But after a while, Madison hang her head and just nodded. She came back and was silent for the rest of the morning. She tried what Lex suggested, plus a few things she picked out herself, and didn't complain again.

Then, it was time to shop for Lucas, which was a lot more easier. Lucas wanted the nice, expensive stuff that Lex wanted to buy for him. Madison cheered up a bit.

"Lucas, god, you look so good. I'm afraid to hug you!" she said once Lucas had changed himself into new clothes. Lucas laughed and pulled her into a hug. Lex felt a pang a jealousy. Maybe one day he would be part of the private talks and the hugs of the twins, he thought. Or maybe he had found them too late.

"Mad, you should change too. That clothes aren't appropiate to see lawyers," Lucas said. Madison complained, but did as she was told and changed into a black dress pants and a elegant shrit that Lex had just bought her. And heels. She did complain about the heels, though. She wasn't used to them and her feet hurt.

She stopped complaining when they arrived to the Luthorcorp building. She shut her mouth and her eyes widened.

"Wow," Lucas said. She nodded her agreement. Lex smiled and got out of the car, holding out his hand to help Madison. She took Lex's hand and didn't let it go for a moment. Then, she grabbed Lucas arm and together, the twins walked inside the Luthorcorp building.

Lex guided them to the penthouse elevator and digited the codes. "The codes change every week, so my assistent gives them to me. I'll see you have them too," he said. The twins nodded, too shocked to say anything.

The lawyers were waiting for them. Things went smoothly. Lex had people hired from a laboratory to take blood samples. Only Madison was odly quiet.

"One more thing," she said. The men in the room turned around to her.

"When I was about ten, and my mother was still alive, Lionel went down to see us to California. We lived in California back then," she said.

"What?!" Lex and Lucas exclaimed.

"He offered my mother money so she wouldn't place a demand on him, because he was doing some important business or something. My mother, of course, didn't accept the money and told Lionel to never come back," Madison told them.

"What? Why I didn't know that?" Lucas asked, hurt. Lex ignored them for a second and turned to the lawyers.

"Well, that proves that my father knew they existed," he said.

"Actually, no," said one of the lawyers. "It will be her word against his in a court, he still have to do the paternity demand."

"I have a tape," Madison said.

"What?" it was the lawyers turn to be surprised. Lucas hang his arm around his sister's shoulder, smug. And Lex felt a little proud too.

"I have a tape from that time. My mother recorded it, the whole conversation, and when she died, she gave it to me, so it just won't me my word against his in a court," Madison said, glaring to the lawyer. The lawyer swallowed.

"Well, that's different. If we could have the tape..." the lawyer started. Madison shook her head.

"No," she said.

"No?" Lex asked, confused. Then Madison turned to Lex.

"Lex, I don't trust this man. I don't think you should trust him either. I think that the tape is going to get lost if I hand it. So i won't. It has been safe with me for years and it will keep been safe with me. But honestly. I don't trust this man, not even a bit," she said and faced the man in question. Adam Whitehouse, the lawyer. Mr. Whitehouse was pale with anger and really affronted, but Lex wasn't about to apologize for his sister.

"Well, we don't need the tape now, the moment we need it, we will ask it from you, Madison."

"Mr. Luthor..." Mr. Whitehouse started, but Lex interrupted him.

"It's okay, Adam. Everyone here can have their opinion. Now we are leaving, let's us know when the court has a resolution. I'll talk to my father myself." He stood up and the twins mimicked him. They left the penthouse silently.

"Well, that was exhausting," Lex said. "I vote for lunch and then Smallville."

Madison nodded and Lucas ignored them. He was still hurt because Madison hadn't tell him about the tape. They walked through the streets to Lex's favorite place to have lunch. Madison and Lex side by side and Lucas a few steps before them.

"Is he okay?" Lex asked.

"Oh, he will get over it, don't worry," Madison said. And he did. As soon as they arrived at the restaurant and a paparazzi took a picture of them, Lucas cheered up.

Then, they sat down and Lucas had fun ordering, but Madison whispered to Lex to please order for her. Lex smiled and nodded, happy to do so. They ate chatting about Smallville and the future sutdy plans for Lucas.

Once they were done with lunch, Lex asked for a car who took them directly to the airport, where they took the helicopter, which took them to Smallville and to their new life.
