Back from vacation, more on that later.

We're making national news, too.

In a nutshell, the state of Wisconsin Gov. has proposed a bill to repair our budget. It includes large increases to what public employees will pay towards health care premiums and retirement. That takes some pressure off the state in terms of what ( Read more... )

OMG, those puppies are cute!

As to your budget predicament, I can totally see where you're coming from. Upping your contribution to healthcare seems fair; we're having a similar issue in Oregon where most of the state budget is now going to public employee retirement benefits. But stripping away bargaining rights is another thing entirely.

They're super cute! Yay, puppies! At least while they are NOT peeing on the floor.

What our gov is trying to do galls me at the deepest level. This will affect other states if it goes through, and possibly private sector unions also.

From what I've read recently, the percentage of unionized private sector workers has dropped dramatically over the past 30 years or so. Not to say that there haven't been excesses/abuses by unions, but come on--companies have leverage, so there's no reason that employees should have none. How is that fair?
