Well, I'm positive I win the prize for the 'most unique fic' of the contest award - if there were such an award. It's also frighteningly long. My apologies, monroe_nell for the late posting. Holy cow, I love this story already. What a cool, unique idea, and such a great execution. I'm just so interested to see where you're going with this, and I want to thwap Ray a little (gently, of course!) to wake him up. :) The backstory of what happened on Fraser's undercover assignment is intriguing and sad - poor Dief. And poor Fraser for having to bury him alone (that last scene in the bathroom is terribly sad). I can't wait to read the next part.

Thank you! I certianly haven't seen anything even remotely like this in due South fandom. Which is sort of odd, since there is at least one canon episode of cross dressing.

I want to thwap Ray a little (gently, of course!) to wake him up. :)

Other than not having the original Ray after S2, I think another thing that loses its appeal for me is the n00b that had replaced Diefenbaker as we usually know him, I mean, I know it's a different dog in the pilot and that there were stunt doubles, but the usual one has this snarky presence about him the new cute thing didn't have.

I like the backhistory, about the town that doesn't exist anymore. They are good.

...and Fraser's plan? It's very...strange, I can understand Ray's reaction.

Gordon Lightfoot...was that a reference to the Canadian folk singer, composer, lyricist and poet?

I really feel for Fraser here, poor Fraser.

There was much less of Dief as a character in the second season IMO.

And, yes, a referent to another Canadian!

Here from list_by_v's cross dressing in dS list. I am loving this greatly. It is a plan that would make total sense to Fraser and it's wonderfully and credibly executed.
