Now that I can block my friends list from prying eyes--not even friends can see who my friends are, so I can (for example) keep the boss from finding all my OTO friends and visa-versa--I think Facebook is fairly cool. At least it's interesting ( Read more... )

There are people who are being asked at their second interviews for their Facebook passwords. It is the new pee-in-a-cup requirement, where you can say no, and feel violated because someone's requiring something nosy about them that has nothing to do with job performance, or you can agree to do it to get the job.

I'm aware of that. There is also a ruling in Florida which stated that Judges are not permitted to "friend" Lawyers who appear before their court, because it gives the appearance of judicial bias. (Source.)

Thus far no-one has ever asked me for my passwords or for access to any of my on-line social media. But if I ever was asked--I wouldn't bother to even answer "no"; I've walked out on job interviews for less.
