In a 4 to 3 ruling today, the California Supreme Court has ruled that banning same sex marriages is unconstitutional. The approximately 146 page opinion, written by the Chief Justice, states that marriage is a basic and fundamental right for all persons regardless of whether they are opposite or same sex couples.  The fact that the state has

but dude, society will surely crumble if you are allowed to make medical decisions for your partner... at least they should look at the bright side: a buncha DINKs filing jointly will rustle up some tax dollars.
